I think you're drawn back a quoted post or two. I was the one who said that, through perseverance and playing about 40 - 50 of the games in any given season, I could find myself a few years into my franchise by the time the next game comes out. He simply suggested that I could be in 2014 when MLB 12: The Show comes out or whatever, and I could continue that franchise.
So maybe there would be bugs and glitches, but maybe there wouldn't. It all depends on how the developers make the game differentiate itself from the previous game, especially with that mode itself. I feel like if they literally untouched franchise mode from one year to the next, it could be possible. I'm not saying that they should do that, but I don't see where the downfalls would come into play. However, if the improvements were only a matter of new interfaces, improved front office AI logic, and added stat columns, only the stats from previous years might have an actual issue if they weren't ever recorded from MLB 11 (like yearly MVP's, for example).
It certainly would be a welcoming addition to any sports game, though. It definitely would allow me to okay the decision to buy the next year's game without any regret. It's not so much the regret of buying that next game, but I have to shed a small tear and wave bye bye to my old pals in my old franchise, knowing I'll have to play the inferior/outdated game to start it up again, while having another franchise by its side in the superior/updated game.
