How about not having the first batter hit a ball that rolls under the center field fence. After skipping 10 and 11 because 09 did not seem as buggy, I hope the quality control is better for MLB 12. I love the series, but seeing that ball roll under the fence on the first at bat crushed me last spring.Comment

If most of the things in the list make it to the game, it's going to be almost perfect.
- new commentary
- all around presentation
- more and even more stat overlays (!!!) i.e. if you play franchise...and at some point it should be like in real baseball when Adrian Gonzalez is leading the league in BA it shows up above his BA-stat BA .355 (#1 in AL)
- baseball-tonight, daily/weekly (nfl 2k had it back then)
- more hit-variety
- more sliders
- base-running/stealing improved (like the article mentioned)Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
i would be SO happy if the pickoff system was improved i feel like i can't even take an extra step without getting picked off sometimes
as someonne
brought up WHERES THE RAINOUTS!?!!?!?
there needs to be
-delayed start time
-mid-game delay
-double-headers
this would definetly make the game more realistic and is the one thing ive never like about the show
i would love t have a NEW announcing crew
the same lines/voices have been annoyin after 5 years...now i just play on no announcer volume and full crowd stadium etc. volume
IMO mlb 2k6 had the best with morgan/miller
the last thing im pleased to see is create ur franchise,,i loved doing this in madden an will probably give it a shot next year
im looking forward to mlb 12 the show already!Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
I would also like a brand NEW announcing crew and also in the same Presentation Style as that other baseball game!
Having a brand NEW announcing crew is not going to be good enough. You need to also improve the way its Presented.
I also think its time to have a new PA Announcer.
In fact how about a different PA Announcer for every stadium?
And even better use all the real PA Announcers from real life.Last edited by tnixen; 10-29-2011, 09:17 AM.Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
How about just better player physics and models all together?
When players jog or when your running in the outfield it seems like players have no weight to them. I want to feel some momentum and fix the canned animations of the outfielders running into the walls, they look really bad.
All animations need a huge overhaul, which I've been saying for like 4 years, but seems to never get addressed, they just keep adding equally awkward animations. Still have the same terrible looking swings for 1H releases for Right Handers and the Left Handed swing is the same for everybody. FIX!!!
90% of the pitching animations look completely awkward and unrealistic. Look like they have no momentum or power behind them, just a weird arm flail or weird leg kick and the ball flies out of their hand without it looking like the pitcher is actually throwing it.
Presention needs a HUGE overhaul. Commentary is stale and has been virtually the same for the past 5 years. New commentators. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver? Don't understand why this can't happen. Implement FOX, TBS etc. and dynamic playoff atmosphere with realistic sounds and reactions. Compare '11 to a game going on right now and it's not even close. I want towels waving on every 3-2 count and with 2 outs. Huge pops when a player hits a home run or gets a big double play. Booing when a player that is hot is coming to the plate in an opposing park etc. You guys claim the most realistic baseball game, but I think that only applies to spring training. This includes improved overlays, TV style camera angles and TV style replays. In game cuts to manager faces, cuts to the bullpen if someone is warming up etc. Link up with a TV production crew like 2k did for NBA.
Dynamic Weather.
Also, please can we get some new jersey textures?? Ones that actually move. I mean didn't 2k do that in like 2006?? The painted on look is getting old.
Also, CAP needs an overhaul. The skin textures are really bad and most CAP look alien like, especially faces look totally weird.
I could keep going...but these are the main points I wanted to stress.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
I like the suggestion by tnixen on different PA announcers, but maybe they could find one good voice actor to do different voice variations for each ballpark? Was thinking of that the other day.
Also thought that it would be cool to see better fan-team mascot interaction. If the mascot is trying to get the crowd to start a slow clap or something they should react in kind, not how they just sit there currently and ignore the mascot. Just a thought.Comment

The current PA Announcer is not very exciting! And is the same guy I remember hearing on PS2 baseball games.Last edited by tnixen; 10-29-2011, 01:53 PM.Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
I love the fact that we can add our names to the game.
If possible it would be cool if we could have all the announced names that we choose from in 1 database. We could assign any name in one of three places.
Like:
1) "Shoeless"..... 2) Joe..... 3) Jackson.....
or
1) Stan .....2) "The Man" .....3) Musial.....
If you only want two names (first & last):
1) none ..... 2)Babe ..... 3) Ruth .....
I would like to hear the announcer call the name of the infielder
fielding the "grounder" and throwing the ball....
Like:
Reese fields the ball throws to first. Hodges makes the stretch...
scoot...Last edited by Scooter3; 10-29-2011, 03:33 PM."a mean motor scooter and a bad go getter"

Scoring from second on a sac bunt glitch....
In online mode, there's a HORRIBLE glitch.
If there is a runner on second with under two outs and you sac bunt, and then send the runner from third to the plate, the first baseman can NEVER throw to the plate in time after receiving the throw.
I've played many online games where this is all the other player does. It's completely indefensible.
The problem is that the first baseman gets stuck in some kind of animation after the out at first is made that lasts for a second or two. This is more than ample time for the runner to score. It ruins online play because everyone does it.Comment

The Show 11 is one of the best baseball games of all time. But I'm a baseball nerd, so I have suggestions anyway.
1) There should be analogue controls still in online play. It's one of the best things about the game, but not having it takes away from online mode.
2) Fifa 11 had a "personality trait" engine for players which could be neat for The Show.
For example: BJ Upton - Inconsisentent
Brian Wilson - Flamboyant
Tim Hudson - never stops battling
Jeter - clutch
3) Diving catches in the outfield shouldn't be impossible, but they are. They should be hard, but they're seriously almost impossible unless the player is a premium defender. But in reality, Melky Cabrera or Eric Hinske lay out successfully a few times a year.
4) Outfielders get stuck in animations when they're interacting with the wall. This effects gameplay sometimes.
5) There are never player collisions. There should be.
6) If a line drive hits a pitcher in the face, he should be injured. Inversely, pitchers shouldn't be hit with line drives so often.
7) Sometimes outfielders should slam into the wall when they make an amazing catch. We should be left wondering "is he ok? will he stay down? did he hold on to the ball?".
8) It doesn't seem like injuries actually result from plays on The Show 11. For example, if a runner goes in hard to second to break up a double play, sometimes a middle infielder gets hurt. Instead, a window pops up saying a player is injured but nothing noticeable happened.
9) In Franchise mode, it is irritating to have to constantly toggle training assignments. There's no way to know how often you should change them. Moreover, it seems that changing them never leads to player improvement, but not changing them leads to a decline in ability.
10) I LOVE the Show. But the lighting engine in the 2K series looks b@d@ss. Maybe take notes?Comment

Re: Ten Areas of Improvement for MLB 12: The Show
After 5 years of playing The Show I have to agree that it's time for entirely new dynamic commentary with FOX or MLB Network broadcast presentation and stat overlays to make MLB 12 really feel like a whole new gameComment
