I was just thinking, sort of how the game still had the faces of old players on the disc (remember when I bought the game, finding out I could find guys like Ken Griffey whose faces were put in years ago and they just never bothered taking it out even when the guy retired)... if they had room to leave the old version of Citi Field in, I'd probably opt for the more pitcher-friendly version whenever I played a game in NY.
    I would too actually.
I like that it's a modern Polo Grounds type park.
I'm going to ask. It can't hurt, right?

I rather not. Leave some space open for another retro stadium if that's possible next year.

You would be assuming they are adding other historical stadiums.
Honestly, I don't think they will be(I hope I'm wrong...trust me on that)....
It just cost too much and used too much of the dev/artists time. With the new Marlins stadium(I'm guessing they are getting it in).....that doesn't leave much for another brand new stadium.

Absolutely no harm in asking but i just don't see it happening. When teams leave their old stadiums to move to new ones (NYY/Min/NYM) in recent years they have left the old ones in as they are starting from scratch to produce the new ones but as Citi Field is only being altered there is no reason for them to start from scratch but rather just make the changes to the existing base model.
I am no programmer and could be way off here...just my opinion.

I imagine they will keep Sun Life to use though?

Think it's hard to pop a home run to left at Citi? Try AT&T Park. Nobody there is complaining; it's the nature of the way the park is built, and they should simply leave it be as far as that integrity goes.

However, as I said, this will make the park more aesthetically appealing, and the boys in Flushing will be maximizing profits with these new seats. Not a bad move, but I just don't like hearing players complain that they can't hit home runs, as if that's the only thing that matters in this game (and that the other team isn't granted the exact same advantage).

Glad to hear the changes will be made in the game! SCEA is on top of their stuff, as always!
nobody's complaining because they played in candle stick which was even a bigger pitchers park. the mets came from shea which had the perfect dimensions and the hitters had no problem hitting and the pitchers had no problem pitching, the best of both worlds.

also, the giants have the best pitching in baseball and have won the world seires. new york wouldnt be complaing if the mets pitching didnt suck as much.

Re: Wow, massive changes to the dimensions of Citi Field for 2012

Actually it wasn't the players' decision to change the dimensions, it was the owners. They did it to increase offense overall, in attempt to slightly increase the average fan's interest in the game. They also felt the unusual dimensions were too much of a distraction for the players - but again, the owners decided this themselves, the players didn't come to ownership and request this change in anyway.

And yes, AT&T park is ginormous, but that change didn't happen overnight. Candlestick was no home run derby either, so it's not like the Giants' players were suddenly forced to adapt -and also, it's not like the Giants' players even know how to hit.

(My source is the Mets website, there was an article a few weeks ago discussing the change).

And I third the notion for old Citi Field staying in the game.

Of course the players didn't change it, but they are absolutely an influence. If you want to keep David Wright in your organization, you're going to want to help him out however you can.

They changed the dimensions to Citi Field because they wanted to make the playing field even for both the Hitters and Pitchers. I think we can all admit it was very very pitcher friendly. Coming from Shea Stadium they were used to having a level playing field where like someone posted above me said the hitters could hit it out and the pitchers could keep it in. To go from that ballpark to a hitter's nightmare was not what they wanted. Therefore they changed the dimensions to make the game more fair. Were there influences from their hitters like David Wright and Jason Bay, of course. But this helps their pitchers too because they admitted they wouldn't think as much on the mound because they knew that if they made a mistake, Citi Field would prevent them from being penalized and that hurt their pitching staff while on the road and playing in bandboxes like Philly and Cincy.

It really looks awesome from the pics I've seen. I'm glad they got it in, and now I'm even more excited about it. Right behind Opening Day as my favorite day of the year is The Show release day!

Thanks for digging this up. I was about to ask in the Q and A thread if they got the new dimensions in, but according to Knight's post they did. It looks nice how they use the old wall as a backdrop.
