Re: New Uniforms!
I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand this: The contract with Major League Baseball says that BOTH GAMES have to follow the MLB Style Guide. Now, sometimes the games will make a mistake. There are also times where teams don't update the guide (biggest one being the Rangers not getting rid of their two toned helmets for years with people complaining about that.)
The style guide is what determines what products are sold with which logo, how teams are identified in the media, and all the way down to how they look in the game. It's not a cop-out, it's contract bound.Comment

Re: New Uniforms!
The style guide is valid as Knight said, except for one. The Twins old retro that they used as their home unis. In 2010 the back numbers were highlighted with red as they should be, 2011 the red outline disappeared and it was just the navy. I dont think that was a style guide, think that was a mistake. No big deal just pointing it out.Comment

Re: New Uniforms!
The cop out was blaming the style guide for a mistake for two years in a row. If the style guide is wrong, so be it, not owning up to a mistake is a completely different issue. The difference with the rangers thing was they actually intended on using those two toned helmets and then decided not to. The braves debuted the jersey and hat together. There was never a thought or intention to wear the sunday home hat with the alternate road navy jersey so it wasnt in the style guide. that is also why I asked if anyone could say if 2k does or does not have the same mistakes. If they do then the style guide thing holds water, if not then, well you know lol.
Right, so if there is an ERROR on SCEA's part, what....?
A conspiracy!?
Some of you guys border on the absurd.
Seriously.

Re: New Uniforms!
No conspiracy, you obviously didnt comprehend what I was saying. The error was brought to their attention in 09. All I wanted them to do was say "my bad it was a mistake, we will get it taken care of". That didnt happen, the style guide was blamed and the error went uncorrected for the show 10. It was again brought to their attention and the style guide excuse was again used. Not owning up to the mistake is my only problem with the error. That is all.Comment

Now, from what I understand....they don't send an entirely new style guide each time it's updated...just the updates.
There are many different things that may have happened, but I do know that when EnigmaNemesis was at the CD last year he went through every uniform and stadium request for fixes and in the case of uni's....they couldn't make any changes unless it was as the guide had it. Sometimes it's wrong...case in point...the Met throwbacks are in...they are the 1986 uni's. In '86 the Mets had their names on the backs....it didn't have that in the guide(yes retro's are in there also) and even though I pointed that out to them...they couldn't add it.
Case in point 2.....the uniform guys asked me my thoughts on adding the NYPD and FDNY hats for the September 11th games in The Show. I thought it would be awesome.....they contacted the MLB and were told....no in the style guide...no putting it in.
So I can tell you first hand...it's there...it's real.
On to 2K.....I'm pretty sure 2K has the Boston Red Sox or Yankees(I can't remember which) with their names on the backs......and the wrong hats with certain uni's...so no, they don't have everything right either.
As to not "owning up" to an error...
...c'mon....really?

Re: New Uniforms!
so you are telling me they DID own up to the error? Please show me where. The braves jersey/hat thing was an error on the part of SCEA, not a style guide issue, PERIOD. It wasnt a big deal cause it was a new uniform and I can see where its possible someone coded the wrong hat with the jersey, but seeing it directly pointed out to them and then them saying it was a style guide issue and still not fixing it for the next years game is lame. Its time for you to admit the staff and the game arent perfect and stop defending EVERYTHING thats wrong in the game.
You say it's "no big deal" yet you are indeed making a very big deal of it.
You have a habit of saying I am constantly saying that SCEA can do no wrong. ....Like I've told you before...I guess you just like to dismiss the entire THREAD I dedicate to fixing thing that are.......wait for it...WRONG in the game.

Re: New Uniforms!
once again, the error itself was no big deal. The BEING LIED TO is the big deal. As for the thread, if I recall correctly that was a tips and workaround thread. trying to figure out how to fix what was wrong to make the current game playable, not dedicated to letting them know what needed to be fixed/patched.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: New Uniforms!
You weren't lied to. Period. It doesn't matter if a team debuts any uniform, the team has to go by the style guide. There are a number of these types of issues, they didn't do it just to make the fanbase angry and to install a feeling that they're lying to them. What purpose does that serve?Comment

Re: New Uniforms!
You are missing my point. This wasnt in the style guide. There wasnt a style guide mistake. The braves didnt put their navy road jersey in the style guide with the sunday home hat. Its fixed now, but it makes me wonder how many other things that were mistakes were blamed on "rules that have to be followed". One other thing I can recall is that it was "impossible" to get all the players to wear #42 on Jackie Robinson day. Its just irritating when people arent up front about things.Last edited by bp4baseball; 11-21-2011, 12:11 PM."Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Judging by the criteria that has to be met to even take a look at the style guide, my money is that you haven't seen the style guide.
I haven't heard this one about #42. Maybe you could be up front and link me to a source.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks
