no dude...it *should be* up to MLB to harass the teams to wear on the field with what's reflected in the style guide. Plain & simple.---the team's should never dictate policy over the league office. never. but they do, which is why you have these issues every year.

The NFL has a guy at every game making sure the players don't violate uniform code...MLB should take a few notes from the most popular league in America.

I'd rather MLB didn't take notes from a sport that has to be paused every three seconds because there is a penalty called. I honestly cannot understand how anyone can even sit through an entire football game. It's penalty after penalty. For stupid things. Unsportsman like conduct because a couple members of your team got excited and dove to the ground with the guy that just scored a comeback to win touchdown? If baseball had that rule, and teams weren't allowed to wait at homeplate after a walk off homerun, I'd quit watching the sport.

I Personally have no problems with these uniforms and or their colors. You have to remember they are trying to embrace the whole "little havana" side of Miami now. those are the colors of the area.

Anyone that has ever even traveled through Miami or surrounding areas know that these colors are all over the place. homes, buildings etc. These are very muted compared to the overpowering way they have done them in the area.

I will be very proud to play with these uniforms if i do choose to play as the Marlins in 12'.

The teams do not "dictate policy over the league office." The teams are free to decide on what they wear. It costs a lot of money to change these things because of the merchandising aspect of the business. Teams make small changes in order to circumvent these costs.

But this isn't a matter of what "should" or "shouldn't" is. This is a matter of how things work in MLB's licensing agreement with SCEA. Again, if you want changes, contact the individual teams. The onus isn't on SCEA.

The NFL is obsessive compulsive and plays its hand more to advertisers than any other league. If that makes you (in your opinion) "the most popular league in America," then I hope baseball stays in second for a long time.

Greatest rebuttal ever. As a point of order, you probably shouldn't cheat the "ten character" rule.

Question: Is there a style guide that has to be adhered to for minor league uniforms as well?

So you disagree with his premise that it is okay for the MLB to hold a video game to the standards of its style guide but not the real life teams?

I hold nothing against SCEA so don't get me wrong, but it seems a little hypocritical to me for the MLB to hold a video game to the standard of the style guide but not the actual real life teams.

The teams decide on what they want to use during the season depending on what image that they want to use. It is impossible to update the Style Guide every single time that they make a change, and it costs teams a lot of money to do so because merchandisers use the guide to sell product. I'm not asking you to love the process, I'm asking you to understand the process.

Thank you but I understand the process, you are just vastly over complicating it.

Most of the things that people have a problem with have nothing to do with a team adding new merchandise (which is what you are eluding to by talking about cost). Most of the issues people have are with wrong combinations which is NOT at all relevant to your post.

but the interrogation I have is : if the guide is mainly used as a tempalte for merchendising, why so many errors and mismatch in it. If there's an area MLB teams are very picky it should be the merchandising. No ?

If you understand the process, then you understand why there are so many "mistakes." And if there are wrong combinations, that's why SCEA has mix-n-match.

They are very picky, but it takes a bunch of money to change these things. Not only that, but minor changes for the team do not require changes to the style guide.

Would it be an issue for SCEA to use jerseys that have been used in former years, yet not in the current style guide, and call them throwback jerseys? Like say the Rockies' purple jersey, or the Brewers home blue alternate. Can they just call those jersey's 2010 throwbacks and get away with putting them into the game?

There is also a guide they must follow for throwback jerseys
