Re: Community Day - UNIFORMS - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
Good to hear! Hopefully it will be fixed this year. I'm a bit of a details guy myself, this is one of little things that bothered me, I just know there are some things out of their control. Thanks for the heads up!"I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball." -Pete RoseComment

I was wondering if it was too late to check if they can fix the color of the Brewers alternate pinstripe uniforms they wear? In real life the color of the hat and lettering and pinstripes is royal blue. In the game it is all more of a powder blue. Thanks!

Re: Community Day - UNIFORMS - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
I would honestly like to know who would answer for correcting something in real life that is a problem, that isn't right in the style guide, because it doesn't at all seem like anybody would get into trouble for this.
Unless I hear that somebody from MLB style guide CIA is watching every damn move I seriously am getting VERY tired of this excuse. At that, I am NOT complaining but seriously some excuses like this are just plain ridiculous--TO ME but I don't know the whole situation--and do not seem based in reality.
Prove me wrong and show me the CIA guy but I just don't believe that MLB is going to do ANYTHING if the devs CORRECT something that is not RIGHT in the style guide.
Anyway, the Twins do need a stripe on their grey unis on the leg and that is something that just looks odd from years past. I am not sure how a style guide messes these things up. Style guide needs to be whipped a couple times and put in the corner.
It would also be great if they corrected the number positioning for no name jerseys for 13. I think they know about this I just hope it is on the list for 13.Last edited by khronikos; 01-18-2012, 01:53 AM.Comment

Did these jerseys make it in for the Braves? They're the onces from 1974. I remember the Braves wore them in real life in 2011 for the negro league game.

I understand your frustration. I worked on a well known game where some specific city buildings are represented in the game. For sure those buildings are owned by companies and in most cases we needed their approval to use it in the game (mostly buildings with a special signature). No problems with most of them but some of them were asking for money, some others didn't want to be associated with this type of game. Anyway, long story short, as 3D designers we wanted to add a specific building ( or a look alike). It went up to lawyers to get approval of this. Just to say the SCEA dev team have nothing to do with. It's not SCEA devs VS MLB guide battle but probably SCEA or Sony Legal dept VS MLB Legal dept. Video games is a big business and they proceed like any big business. I'm sure SCEA dev team is as frustrated as you are, as we were.I would honestly like to know who would answer for correcting something in real life that is a problem, that isn't right in the style guide, because it doesn't at all seem like anybody would get into trouble for this.

Could you make sure the new white pipping was added to both the Royals road jerseys and pants? I'm worried something so small could be missed.

I can see what you are saying but this isn't quite the same imo. Who in the heck is going to go over every uniform in this game and say, oh, that doesn't match the style guide you are in big trouble mister you corrected something that was outdated in our terrible style guide.
None of it makes any sense. I can see somebody quickly going over the uni's to make sure the logos above all else are accurate but is somebody really going to throw a fit when the dev team actually corrects something that is wrong in the style guide like a sock or a stripe. Who would ever even notice? It is misrepresenting the team and it looks bad for MLB. It makes absolutely no sense.Comment

I guess Im confused, what unions are we talking about? It seems pretty simple to me, if you want nike in your game you call them and tell them, they say ok it will cost you this much, then you either pay, decline, or go into negotiations. Same with all other licensed brands. I dont see where unions come into play.Comment

"Our players are wearing them, we want our cut too"
Case. Closed.
Not simple as other sports franchises and how it was 6+ years ago.
If it were "so easy" it would be in the game.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

First you go in a grass plight, now this.
You said your peace. Now move along. If you can not understand every week that they have a submission process for approval for changes they make to licensing on MLB specifics then I dunno what to tell you.
This is big business. Games are now big mainstream business.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Ask yourself this... Why does a video game company have to PAY Major League Baseball upwards of $75 million to make a game? Players Unions. Same reason the NBA and NFL were almost locked out. Everyone wants there cut of the pie.I guess Im confused, what unions are we talking about? Now add Nike = additional $. Mizuno = additional $. Unless they have an agreement with the respective league. Majestic makes all of the jerseys, therefore they are governed by MLB. That also plays into the strict guidelines behind uniforms.
Lastly, remember Sony is the target of many frivolous lawsuits, so they need to be extra cautious. I can't say I blame them.
