To those trying to defend the whole commentary thing, just no. Its been an on going issue, SCEA knows about it and claimed to have changed it.
This build like mentioned was definatley not the full build, we dont know when commentary is implemented and at what stage. However if this is what we should expect, people have a right to be disappointed.
True alot of a broadcast script will READ the same, but that doesnt mean it has to SOUND the same considering its been used since MLB 07 and again has been a major complaint for the past 2 years.
Obviously people will buy the game, but commentary being stale will be a letdown by many if this is indeed the case period

This video is from CEA right? I thought Ramone wrote somewhere in those CEA interview threads that the build has about a bit more than 50% of planned updates in (w.r.t. presentation). Half full, half empty? Depends.

To me, commentary *will* be stale within a single cycle no matter how much effort the devs put into it, just because certain amount of repetitions cannot be avoided (unless you have unlimited amount of memory to store the audio files, which we presumably don't). Of course it's better to hear something fresh in each iteration, but it will almost never be a deal breaker as long as other parts of the game improve enough to make the whole experience better.

i think the Shows commentary is behind many of my favorite sports games and I think it needs a re-read of all these lines, and Campbell taking a powder before he ruins his real life announcing name.


That said, it might be way better than what we heard in this thread. then it might be only different in the way its presented in franchise.
I can imagine online or play now people being upset if it still sounds like all three guys are in different time zones.

I do think calling a grounder to second can't be much different after 199 times, but I agree, it wouldn't hurt to change the darn script.
Its not that good.

is it the words given, or the talent.
I have seen goood announcers, come off poorly in video games, [gus johnson anyone?}.

I think the negativity shines when its the same announcers.
Lots of peeps are just sick of Dave and matt.
Would it matter if it was Al Leiter reading the same line?
I dont know. I think these guys signed a longer contract than A-Rod! WTH! lol

Why would sony sign long term contracts to announcer for a video game?
Unless there's other reasons why we r stuck with them.

SCEA doesn't try to reinvent the wheel every year. It's baseball. They build on the solid foundations they laid the year before.

The ball physics and swings are noticeably different from last year.

The guys saying it's the same as last year are watching with bias in my opinon.

If the ball physics were completely trashed and redone, how is that building on a foundation from previous years?

For me, the commentary needs to be more fluid between the announcers. Like they are all in the same booth when they are describing the action or commenting. The Show, for all that is awesome about the game, hasn't been able to do this imo.

Game looks good but it looks like they still haven't figured out how to fix the pitchers wearing long sleeves at night that's been going on since 07. Maybe there's still time to fix it

I think the one recipe everybody is missing when watching this videos is how the game will sound overall. Yes, you will hear similar lines of commentary... but from the new crowd audio to the sound effects of the bat and gloves interacting with the ball, the new umpire calls, etc. (maybe even new replay audio?), as Daughtry might say: I'm starting to believe that this could be the start of something good.

Just games in general. The other MLB game is not worth mentioning.

Most games do not run at 60fps with tons of fans in the vicinity. I think you might be pleasantly surprised by this year. If anything was disconnected it was the players' animations. Grass is just not going to be 3D but I agree there could be improvements to skylines in general.

Still, not many games this gen even run at 60fps and many other sports games do not have to do as much as this one. Football, where many fans are also rendered, albeit with much less quality, is far behind The Show in terms of graphics.

Hockey and Basketball seem to get away with not having to do as much imo and the Stadiums are MUCH less work.

I said they build on the solid foundations, so I guess SCEA didn't consider the old ball physics solid.

I always turn off commentary as I want the "On the field/in the stands" feeling. However for those that like it hopefully one day it will satisfy you.

Can't wait to see more videos and the wait keeps getting harder and harder.
