How to preform pick off properly

i have been meaning to ask this for a great LONG WHILE... every time i attempt a pick off no matter how hard i try i always get the step off move then the throw over... i can never get the pick off move like the cpu does...

how in the double heck do i do this properly... i have tried doing the L1+circle thing exactly at the same time and no matter what i do it still goes into the step off move then throw over... not the pick off move...

    please help!!!!

Okay, I'm away from my PS3 right now, and it'd odd how something you do automatically can be hard to explain when you have to think about it. I believe you hold L2 and press the button for the base. If you do a single press, they do a "casual" throw over. If you double-tap the button, it's a quicker pickoff move. If you're using a left-handed pitcher and hold the button for first base, he'll do a very deceptive move. I think you can also hold the button for second base for any pitcher and they'll do a better move to 2nd. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm misremembering anything.

The pick-off button is camera specific:

      Pitching from the pitcher's perspective:

L2 + Square (first base), X (second base) and O (third base).

Holding down L2: Single tap: casual throw; Double tap: Quick throw; HOLD the button down for a deceptive throw. A lefty can only do a deceptive throw to first and the righty deceptive move is the third to first move. A righty can only do that move if there is a runner at first and third.

      Pitching from the catcher's perspective:

L2 + O (first base), Triangle (second base) and Square (third base).

Same rules apply as mentioned for the pitcher's perspective.

Correct. L1 is for stepping off and with L2 you have the 3 options as mentioned above.

I love the lefty deceptive pickoff to first

I was wandering how I perform the quick throw over to the base. I have done it before, but I did not really know how I did it.

Did you get to where you needed to go?

I believe it's the double tap quickly.
