Re: Tigers franchise for 2012
I am amazed by the blatant homerism here in regards to Cabrera moving to 3rd. Every one of you honestly think he will be anything more than terrible at the hot corner? He probably plays a few games at 3rd, but there is no way he plays there every day with Fielder at 1st and Victor at DH in 2013. VMart has almost certainly played his last game for the Tigers as Cabrera and Fielder split the 1B/DH duties for the foreseeable future.Comment

Every single report has the tigers moving Cabrera to third, it's not as if the fans here made the idea up....no idea if it'll work out or not but they have all of spring training to see.Comment

Re: Tigers franchise for 2012
I'm sure they'll be one of the more popular teams now.
As a Tigers fan, I'm always eager for the season to begin, but now I'm not sure I'll make it.
I just hope Prince and Cabrera can deliver as the most potent one-two punch in the AL.
NL hitters have a history of struggling coming to our league. I hope Prince can adapt.Comment

Not this guy!
Even as a huge Inge slappy, even I can see the potential of moving Miggy to 3rd - warts and all.
His stick will more than make-up for all the guffaw's he has on the corner.Comment

Re: Tigers franchise for 2012
Not sure about that. Last year's ''cutoff'' date was January 15th. All free agents not signed before that date wore FA hats. Hopefully, the date has been pushed back this year. As of today (Jan 25), there are still 78 Major League free agents unsigned.Comment

How well did the move back to third go for Youk last year, and he was a solid fielder to begin with. The injury risk makes it not worth the chance in my eyes.Comment

Re: Tigers franchise for 2012
I understand they are saying he will move to third, I just don't see how he could be successful there. He hasn't played the position since 2008, when after 14 games he already had 5 errors and was moved to 1B. Since, he has gained more than a few pounds and lost any quickness he had previously.

Either way it's a great move for this year. If Miggy's defense is atrocious then he may play a lot of DH this year or share it with Prince. Next year would end up bringing a trade and I would guess Cabrera would go before V-Mart. Miggy won't want to just play DH and he's signed to a nice deal (just under $20 mil) through 2015. A co-worker was even speculating a trade for Hanley Ramirez. The Tigers will worry about that later though.Comment
