I say SCEA takes a stand and doesn't implement this ridiculous idea from Selig. Why doesn' he just make it 16 teams that make the MLB playoffs, and we can completely not care about the previous 162 games.

I don't think that was his point... to use your metaphor:

A kid doesn't ask a fireman, "Hey, I know my house is completely engulfed in flames now and it would be certain suicide to go in and I'm not sure I even have a dog, but could you go in there and check."

Yeah, I can already see people blaming this on scea, but MLB really dropped the ball on this one. I can't believe that they have known about this since at least November and hasn't made a decision.

Yes, I realize those situations are immensely different, but you get my point.

That's not my point at all. My point is that people come on these boards and assume that since there are video game patches that the team can patch anything in the game. When people start hearing those assumptions, they start believing they are fact.

It's not like a kid asking a fireman to save his dog. It's more like a kid asking a fireman to save his dog after the house is burnt to a crisp. It's hard to remake things like that.

Why is it such a big deal to some people if the Expanded Playoffs will not be in MLB 12 The Show?

I mean we are talking about only 1 extra game in each league.

I am sure it will be in MLB 13 The Show so you only have 1 more year to get this feature

1. We don't listen to civilians. ("MY BABIES...MY BABIES....are in there!" only to come out with a cat....and she grabs them and says..."my baby, are you alright?") We go in no matter what and sort it out ourselves.
2. That's how I got my first dog(RIP) Smokey...my first month in the FDNY...saved her at a house fire...she was 4 weeks old and in an orange crate. I thought it was a baby at first!
3. How the HECK did we get comparing this feature to rescuing anything!
4. I'll take care of the dog, they will take care of programming, when they know what the heck is going on. What's the address?!

Lastly.....that's not what the guy meant when he said "program it yourself". Of course SCEA will implement it when it's appropriate for them to get it into the game properly with time to test it and make sure it's working correctly. They weren't rushing it in with no confirmation and then no time.

As if Selig hadn't done enough to ruin the game.

This idea stinks and will totally kill the regular season. The reason there are so many "non contending" clubs is the expansion used to pay the fine for owner collusion. Selig's response is to move the Brewers (his club) to the NL, eventually uproot the Astros, and dilute the season so teams like the Brewers have a chance to prove themselves over a few weeks rather than over a proper season.

Baseball is dying under this man.

That's another person's metaphor, not mine. I kinda know how this works in real life; my Uncle is a firefighter/paramedic with a rural fire department (he wanted to be a paramedic ever since he saw the show "Emergency!"). I guess that's neither here nor there...

My point still stands however. One person coming on these forums can ask why something isn't in the game, and then there will be a flood of people asking why it isn't in the game. If it was so easy to implement, the team would have already had the feature in the game.

There was more than just a dog in that house as well....four skells who were squatting in the vacant house.....and they just left her in there!
Their loss...my gain!!

As far as if it's possible to patch this in, I have no idea, but I am not going to assume it's impossible, like most things seem to be, I will leave it up to the professionals who understand these sorts of things. If it's possible, I would like to think they are working on it now (or already have, since it's been rumored for a while now).

My assumptions aren't baseless. It's based on other things the development team has said about patches and the game. They've already said they can't patch anything to do with the uniforms, which means more than likely that they can't change anything that messes with the core code of the game until they release the next version.

Expanded playoffs have been rumored, they have not been confirmed. Beings that they are an official game of Baseball, they have the obligation to portray the real league as much as possible when the game ships. They can't just make up stuff willy-nilly.
