Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
Regarding fielding, are there still a lot of balls thrown in the dirt when the fielder has plenty of time to set and throw? And if so does the first baseman pick it 99% of the time? You don't understand how much that frustrates me.Comment

Hey guys. Really sorry to leave you hanging. Got busy with work tonight.
Anyways, I promise I'm not trolling. It's at a Best Buy in Tallahassee, FL. I was there as the game was being installed to the PS3. It said it had 14 minutes to go, so I left and came back later and it was good to go.
I'll try to go up there tomorrow to grab a picture. Otherwise, not sure what else I can do to prove it. I've got no incentive to lie. Just wanted to let folks know to be on the lookout for it.Comment

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
Id like to commend Russell and the whole Sony crew on MLB the Show 12. As they know, I havent been the biggest advocator of this series over the years. Im always bitchin and moaning about something like
-different Managerial sliders that make each team play slightly differently
-Adding a Franchise History or Almanac section to allow players to view each seasons data, stats, playoff seedings, scores, standings, milestones, etc
-Franchise and Player Creator Importer
-More Retro Uniforms
-More Varied and physics based animations
-Newer more refreshing Commentary team
-Factoids and Stat Tibit Overlays throughout the game
Even tho they havent included these features....YET, I still have to take my hat off to their hard work and efforts. I think this series has been a steady improvement over the years. Despite the fact that sometimes, I found some of the changes from each year a bit too subtle for my liking....they have been improvements to the game!
And the fact that this year they really focused on really improving the on field immersion and experience even moreso for the gamer has me very excited! I like what I have read about reading the ball better, hitting has a better feeling of contact or weight to the ball, and the new physics will add a whole new level of dynamic variety to the balls put in play to make each at bat a little different and free of that "DEJA VU" feel of seeing the same thing for the upteenth time......
I know its all heresay at this point from a few Best Buy quick impressioners who may just be rich with new version testosterone in their bloodstream, but it may also just be a result of a great new set of subtle features that expand on the playability of this great series. Im hoping its the latter!
Either way.....kudos to you RUssell and Sony crew for your efforts, keen eye and great sense of interpreting the things that make the difference in an average baseball game and a truly authentic one.
I hope MLB 12 brings it home!Comment

I'm actually in this area once a week for work. I'll have to stop by the Best Buy there next week and check it out when I'm done for the day.Comment

I see he was banned, thanks for whoever did that, I don't know why I was attacked. I have never been disrespectful or rude to ANYONE in these forums. I just like getting to know as much early info as I can.Harvey's BetterComment

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
That's how I felt.
The ball has "weight" now when you hit it.
It's hard to explain....it just feels different.
It's a strange thing to say about something that as far as the controller is exactly the same...but the on the screen result just gives you a sense of "heft" to it.
...and the fluidity also lends to a better feel to gameplay.
Good observations.

It took me a little while to realize that they added a sound effect for the ball hitting the ground that wasn't in MLB 08.
Just adding a sound effect can give the sensation of massComment

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
Just to reiterate what others have said, it seems to be that so much of what makes this game great is stuff that just doesn't really show up unless you have a controller in your hands.
It's funny, all the talk about ball physics ... to me the ball "feels" different even when pitching -- I especially noticed it on a 2seam fastball. Just felt more weighty. It's hard to describe -- maybe it's all in my head, but who cares?
Really, a great job by the crew at SCEA. A baseball game made by baseball people. We're spoiled.Comment
