I think everyone was only joking.Funny. As I stated earlier. It's just cosmetic. But if the developers for MVP05 can do it, why hasn't SCEA been able to. Not going to stop me from playing anyway.
And it was just something I was wondering if anyone esle had issue with. And you don't. Then don't repond if you have nothing to bring to the table on the topic.
To be fair, neither player was 'aware' of the others presence to try to avoid it, and still their bodies didn't pass thru one another. Just a little arm and bat (which is a separate entity from the player)... I, on the other hand, saw it coming a mile away

Be careful!...
You play and enjoy The Show and are not afraid to express it....you are venturing into...
SHOW DEFENDER territory.

Re: Collision Awareness
I did chuckle, then I thought maybe he was trying to be an azz. So, I addressed both...LMBO......If it's not in game play, I'm fine. It was last year. And like said, I could of took collision awareness the wrong way.Well, I meant to bring some humor to the table... but I do realize I'm quite lame in this forum.
The devs (like Ramone@SCEA) have repeatedly said just because some other game has done it, it doesn't mean it easy or makes sense to do in this particular game.
I think collision detection is definitely a welcome addition, but I wouldn't get carried away by what happens in a sort of cut scene... I care mostly about what happens in the field that affects the gameplay itself, and it's kinda hard to see the new system in action in all these videos.
For example, I wouldn't care about collision between the bat and catcher if the system isn't in place for interference, etc.Comment

Re: Collision Awareness
Quick laugh. This only became an issue with me when my buddy comes over who doesn't even own a playstation and we play the rivalry mode and he sits there and yells that BS players going through each other. I find myself ready to smack him, and find myself defending the game. like some of you when I brought this up...LMBOComment

Re: Collision Awareness
This is just a minor annoyance on a game that is so good looking but I have noticed a problem with this a lot on sweep tags on attempted pick offs at first base. They have come a long ways in the past decade. I can remember when I would have been happy if the players just didn't throw the balls like girls.Comment

Re: Collision Awareness
I seriously doubt they implemented a heavy duty collision awareness where they map out the appendages of players.
It's probably more of in the simpler sense, where they probably added some code to prevent a couple of the main mass points colliding, like in the chest and waist, and when they do it results in certain avoid animations
So you will probably still see bats, gloves etc. pass through once in a while.
No big deal.Comment

Re: Collision Awareness
Yeah, the only way to do that is to either cram in a TON of animations for every possible angle of interaction [the way games like Madden try to handle it], or implement a full realtime physics engine.
Baseball, at least, is hard to justify the development of such an engine given how much more routine most plays are, so you can get away with using animations to handle collisions. But that does mean you are limited by the animations avaliable, so you will get a few moments where things don't flow right.Comment
