Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
Was playing against the Royals (I think) and Kubel comes up to the plate. Matt says something like, "Here's an arcane fact: Kubel has the most MLB HRs by anyone from South Dakota. Know who's second?..." I can't remember that part, but it was a nice little touch

Wonderful ball physics moment playing RTTS in double A. Line drive to the third baseman - he reaches up high and just gets the tip of his leather on it... but the ball reacts very naturally by going STRAIGHT UPWARD and HE CATCHES IT! It really saved my behind too because I was in as the closer and I needed an out there, base hit might have blown the save.Comment

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
This is my first year of The Show. I've notcied a bunch of things but was too tired to post last night. The first one that is sticking with me is the ability to manage my bullpen in a detailed fashion. i like to have a pitcher warming up soft, where I can fire him up and get him ready to get in should my current pitcher get in trouble.
I also love the smooth animations - there is a lot to be said for total control, but at some points its better to have things just slightly automated to make things work and look good while doing it.
The uncalled cuts - love this. There is always a player on the spot to cut the ball even if I don't throw to a cut. I don't miss those balls rolling or bouncing freely around the infield.UofM-Duluth Bulldogs HockeyComment

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
Playing an exhibition game last night Indians(me) at White Sox. Jump on Sale in the first and then he bared down until I got to him later on, and Ubaldo is dealing. Jimenez is getting a bit gassed and walks a batter to lead off the inning. Next batter hits a slow roller juuust passed the pitcher. Asdrubul(sp) Cabrera comes flying in, scoops the ball and proceeds to whip the ball behind his back to start the DP. He also made a sick play on a similar hit ball, just faster, and while off balance he flipped the ball with. His glove to start a 6-4-3 as Matt announces each number as they touch the ball. So Cabrera will pwn you in the field, and that Matt V. line was new. The computer botched a double play ball on me and he stopped after the first number. FEELING this game even moreso than I thought I would. Let's keep this ball rolling fellas.

Was losing 6-1 to the Phillies heading into the bottom of the 8th when Matt V. said, "And now we'll have a look at our State Farm, 'Get to a Better State' play. Here's how the Phillies got to a better state." And then they showed an RBI double by Carlos Ruiz that gave the Phillies the lead back in the 2nd inning.Edmonton Oilers Fan

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
Don't know if this has been said, but pre-game the other day in Franchise, instead of the typical "Player X has not been hitting well, or is tired, etc" and then the option to replace the player, this came up:
"Chipper Jones injured his knee in pre-game warmups. If he plays, he could injure it further." Then gives the options to sit him, etc.
The interesting part is that I forgot about it, didn't start him, but I pinch-hit him in the 7th and left him in, and lo and behold, he hurt his knee for the next 4 games or so.Comment

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
Yankees - Redsox, Raul Ibanez is batting and Karros says, "Ibanez had a six hit game for the mariners in 2004, an american league record" then he mentioned something about Ichiro being the one you would expect to have six hits in a game

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
What amazed me, and maybe its just my imagination, because a lot of people knock the commentary, but the way the game can tell a little bit of a story, seem to be some sort of flowing narrative, rather than seperate innings patched together.
Baseball is about more than whos up next to bat or how many pitches a pitcher has thrown, and maybe I'm being a little overdramatic earl on here, but I think this game gets that.UofM-Duluth Bulldogs HockeyComment

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
Couldn't agree more. Yesterday, I walked around listening to a game with Vita (since gaming while walking is prohibited by a provincial law jk). Matt V. does flow like a radio guy and you can tell what actually goes on the field. Commentary gets a bad rep, but the essential are definitely there. What amazed me, and maybe its just my imagination, because a lot of people knock the commentary, but the way the game can tell a little bit of a story, seem to be some sort of flowing narrative, rather than seperate innings patched together.

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
I was cruising with Carpenter and I got to the 6th inning and he walked a guy on four pitches then through two more in a row. I had guys warming up in the bullpen when suddenly Yadi goes out to the mound! Dave Campbell then talked about stalling for the bullpen and settling down Carp. It was so amazing!Comment

Re: MLB12 The Show, The Little Things Thread
I was warming up one of my pitchers during spring training before an inning and he threw one just out of the zone but then my catcher points towards the third base ump, who responded with a half hearted safe sign. It was a nice touch to a spring training game.Comment
