Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread

My question is, after reading through some of the impressions a lot of guys are having trouble with the Pulse Pitching. But when I'm watching it on video it doesn't look very difficult. You just time it right where when you see that the icon is enlarging you wait a little while it is shrinking.

So in the Highlights thread I have seen thus far..
~A first baseman's glove pass through the body of a runner diving back into the bag.

~An outfielder make a sliding catch into the bullpen bench full of players at the Trop, and morph right through two guys on the bench,

~ And a game ending flip to second whereby the runner did indeed avoid the contact with the second baseman, but passed through the body of the shortstop covering the bag.

So, for those who have the game and have played a few games, have we seen anything in the way of player collisions, players running into one another, and /or players avoiding each other as advertised, that would lead one to believe we have a true "Collision Detection" this year?

Is it possible that someone can go into detail about R.A. Dickey's pitching repitore. I read before the devs gave him an 80+ mph knuckler but does he still throw a slow knuckleball as well?

Can everyone have an 80+ mph knuckleball or just him? What pitches does he throw besides the knuckleball? Would be great if someone can get a video of him pitching for an inning.

There is no "collision detection" and no one ever said there was. There is "collision avoidance" which makes ghosting happen far less but it is by no means perfect.

His knuckler is 65 or close to it and it doesn't seem that you can edit it to be quicker either. I thought I remember someone saying he had a more accurate knuckler too so I'm not sure what happened.

"It's all around the field, complete with all new tag and sliding animations, making gamers feel like the action on the virtual diamond is more real than ever as you will no longer see the random player-through-player ghost-like animations that have plagued the series for years. And since cyber athletes will not only collide, but be aware of the potential collisions, players react in a much more realistic manner, sliding around tags from all angles, dropping the ball more often when going for the sweep tag, and even giving the occasional spike when necessary."

Well see, I read this ^^^ during a "Hands On" preview, and must have read a bit more into than I should have.

Hopefully this can be patched, it was said in here that his speed was changed

Unfortunately this is a reviewers interpretation of a system...not necessarily exactly how it works.

The collision avoidance is much better....but it's still got times when it's going to clip.

Maybe it caused a glitch or something, the knuckler seemed to be really glitched last year when looking at the previous pitches PCI.

I just hope they can fix it with a patch, I didn't pitch with RA last year because of the knuckler not working and you can't really pitch like him anyway.

                          I don't think so...
We played a game with him to check it out.
The knuckler looks really good this year(all of them regardless of speed)...but Pared mentioned the 79-81 MPH knuckler and how we can't achieve it in the editor ....the did it for us for Dickey and we used him in a game.
                          I'll have to ask Lorne.

Can anyone tell me, or show some footage to see if Cliff Lee's pitching motion is the same as last year?

Also, do you see more misplays in fielding? I just say this one which is terrible but have never seen CPU botch this badly so I was in awe. By the way, all these videos are from 11, of course...

I had a CPU OF come in and whiff on a routine line drive which I don't think I've seen before.
