Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread

Does anybody know the options for managing/simulating games in Franchise mode?

I've been disappointed that in the last few years, you just have that pitch-by-pitch manager mode or simulate, no middle ground. I didn't buy MLB '11 partially because of this, so has there been anything added since MLB '10 in terms of quickly getting through games in Franchise, or is it still just the "play - simulate - manage pitch by pitch" thing? (Frankly, I'm hoping for a manager mode similar to what MVP '05 had, and what 2K sort of has)

    Edit:

In terms of glitches, someone on Gaf mentioned that a routine fly ball out recorded as an error on a play for the guy who caught it. But, so far, no other word

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread

      Question for the Analog Pitching:

Does the speed by which you push the stick forward have any bearing on the pitch speed, or does it have more to do with where on the line ( before, on, or after the yellow line) you start the forward motion.

I tried to test this at BB, but I threw a change up with Bucholz with little effort on the stick, then really jamming it foward, and the second pitch actually was slower than the first one with less effort.

This is what leads me to believe they mapped it to the position on the marker versus the motion.

      Thanks,

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread

I just saw something potentially amazing in a video posted by thaSlab in this thread:
        http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043428844

It's the Nationals and Marlins gameplay video about the 3:25 mark.

The batter hits a line drive to left field and the little marker which shows where the ball will land starts to move away from the fielder at the end, as the BALL STARTS TO SLICE.

I think I saw this correctly and if so, that is awesome. In previous games, the ball marker would automatically be in the exact spot where the ball will land. This one showed up originally but moved slightly to the left (it seemed) as the ball started to tail.

This would make fielding much more dynamic and challenging. Can someone confirm if this in fact the case and the ball landing markers are now dynamic and don't necessarily pop up to the exact spot where the ball will land?

I am hoping this is not a glitch like in past years where you would see more on screen stats during exhibition than during franchise.
            That wasn't a glitch.
There were certainly different OSD's for exhibition and franchise modes in the past and may still be for this year.

I'm not sure what you mean here.

2K has no manage only mode....and I don't recall MVP having one either.
If you mean a quick sim with manage options....it's called SportsCast.
            You can:
Simulate the game. A quick simulation with zero user input
Manage game. A full game with full manager input options available.
SportsCast. A quick sim that gives you the opportunity to call for certain plays....pinch hit/run ....sub pitchers etc. It's very quick.

Does anyone know if our favorite FA bug is back again or is it finally gone? Also how is the new trade logic? hopefully its better then last years logic even after the patch.

Would anyone mind posting a quick screenshot of the back of one of the player cards this year? Hopefully there are more stats (and historical stats)...for me at least, one of the only frustrating things about this game.

Does it quit when the batter reaches first base, or does it extend any longer this year?

                  Thanks,

the replay only shows the hit and follows the path of the ball into the stands. The "real-time" broadcast shows the batter trot all the way around the bases with clips of the manager, pitcher, etc. Its well done.

Only because you are a Senator.

Historical tracked stats are the same this year....but if you see where the pitch selection is(it's hot/cold zones for batters)....Aaron and Brent(SCEA) are open to removing that from the card and trying to add more historical tracked stats to that part of the card. They have to see what they can track/flag and save.
                    Next year of course.

The pitchers also have these stats that batters have...you hit square on two of the pitcher screens(I think it's the 3rd and 4th I've posted for Santana...you'll see the "hit square to toggle icon) and it gives you these for the pitcher as well...

                    Don't forget...on the STATISTICS page...there are a TON more(for season)

                    Edit:
Also...the player card is now available in game as well!

Cool thing is they track for more than 6 years now. In the past if you were past 6 years 2012 would be wiped. It allows you to scroll now.

Thanks Knight. Hopefully one of these days historical stats will show OPS, stolen bases, teams played for etc. I love nba 2k12's player card.

We should try and compile a list of requested tracked historical stats.
There will be a limited space for them...so we must choose wisely.

So is "Real Time Broadcast" an option in the presentation menu?

Or does it just fall under "Broadcast"?

At Best Buy, I set both offense and defense to Broadcast and I love the views, but is this something totally different?

I plan to use the move exclusively, I know, I know. The only thing I don't like is the fielding aspect of the move and not having control of player movement, is there a way to use a combination of the analog stick for player movement along with the move for catching? If not can you just use the move for batting and the DS3 for everything else?

Sorry if this has been asked, but there's a lot to sift through.

With pulse pitching....do the pitchers ratings affect how fast it pulses? Can you tell the difference if you're pitching with Verlander versus a scrub?

Also, do the hitters ratings affect the pulsing? Is it harder to make a good pitch when facing Pujols or does it solely rely on pitcher's ratings?

                                thanks
