    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

With the Reds, just finished up my first road series at Wrigley and am sitting at 12-4 after a sweep of the Cubbies. Votto is in a major slump hitting just above .150 but Stubbs and Heisey are tearing the cover off the ball. Stubbs is hitting almost .450 and is third in the national league in average. Heisey has six homeruns and ranks sixth in the NL.

Bruce went down during the first series with the Cards with an inflamed hip and won't be back until May. So Willie Harris got the call up and has not had one single hit during his time rotating in the outfield with Heisey, Stubbs and Ludwick.

Cozart is struggling at the plate and if he doesn't improve by the middle of May there may be an early Billy Hamilton sighting at Great American.

    Pitching wise:
    Cueto is 4-0
Latos is 1-1 and was battered by the fish but had 9 k's and a cg shutout against the birds.
Chapman is 5th in my rotation and is also 1-1 and has pitched well but usually doesn't make it out of the fifth (I set his stamina to 65 when i converted him to a starter) and missed out on a couple decisions.
Madsen has taken two of the four losses on blown saves. Both were walkoff jacks in the 9th.

Humorous side note I have already faced two recent Reds pitchers. I traded Bailey to the Nats for Lannan and Renton and he is their 5th starter. I can't stand Bailey and loved it when we had him down 4-0 in the second after Phillips scored on a Cozart double and Stubbs, Heisey and Mesoraco all went deep off him. He hung in there though and kept us off the board further till he left in the 6th.

Then we faced Wood during the Cubs series and battered him around but that wasn't nearly as satisfying.

I'll upload my screenshot of the box score in a bit as that game felt nice after getting shut down in the 5-1 loss.

Yankees Record: 3-3 1 GB in the AL East

Side note: I made a trade shipping Michael Pineda and Joba Chamberlain to Cleveland for Jason Kipnis, and two B potential prospects. Raul Ibanez has been designated for assignment to make room for Kipnis

Looking to use a revolving door DH system until further notice.
Alright here's the box score from the break out game. Felt good getting in all those hits:

Just started franchise with the Nationals.

First time I will attempt playing all 162, dropped opening day @ Chicago 3-1.

Anybody else pick up Damon off FA? Kinda filled the leadoff vacuum I had going on. Morse starting at 1B, Werth in center and Harper in right.

I fully agree with u. He can only hit low fastballs! In one game he hit a leadoff hr, but then my game froze. Cedeno was doing good, but then he fell into a cold streak as well. Tejada is more known for his fielding anyway. I'm actually trying to trade for a ss or sign one as a fa. Best of Luck in your Franchise!

              Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just had a great game in my 30-team franchise. I play all the Tigers' games, but I am also playing with other teams' aces. I saw the Phillies had Lee going against the Mets so I had to play the game. Well RA Dickey was going for NY, and I couldn't touch his knuckle ball, so the game turned into a pitcher's duel. Here are the lines:
              Dickey: 7.1IP 5H 0ER 3BB 7K
              Lee: 8IP 3H 1ER 1BB 5K
Wright singled in the first, and Bay singled in the second, but they were the only baserunners NY would get until Bay walked with two outs in the seventh. The third hit was a homer by Nieuwenhius to lead off the 8th. Lee was pulled after the 8th, and the bullpen surrendered another run in the top of the 9th, so NY was leading 2-0 going into the bottom of the 9th and Francisco came in to close out the game.
Well, Victorino just hit one over the wall to lead off, so 2-1 NY. Wiggington singled and Nix doubled, so I had runners on 2nd & 3rd with no outs. I pinch hit Mayberry Jr. for the pitcher, and he walked, but ball 4 was a wild pitch. The tying run came in, but the winning run stayed on 2nd. A double play and a strike out ended the inning, but the game was tied.
The 10th and 11th innings were uneventful, and so was the top of the 12th. In the bottom of the 12th, Pierre led off with a single, and Polanco moved him up to 2nd. Pence hit one right back up the middle, and Pierre scored to give the Phils a 3-2 walkoff win!
Definitely my best game so far in '12.
              MLB: Detroit Tigers
              NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
              NCAA FB: Penn State
              NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Seattle marches into Progressive Field with a new difficulty level and sliders, which are sure to make this uber-competitive user go into cardiac arrest. Nonetheless, the first place Mariners are simply powerful to be contained on tweaked Veteran hitting.

Taking the hill will be Jason Vargas verse Justin Masterson, and his annoying slider.

I finally found a draft team that I liked, but I need to find some speed. Any ideas on who to try to trade to find some speed in the lineup and what position to find upgrades? My Best Game EVER!!!
i just played my best franchise game ever! and a bonus it was in the playoffs.

game 1 2014 ALDS Angels at Yankees (me)
                          James Sheilds Vs. Josh Johnson
first inning: strike out then a single, then a matt kemp single (and the guy on first went first to third) then a kemp attempted steal (thrown out) then a double up the middle by mark reynolds, then a ground out.
                          3rd inning still 1-0
harper rips a foul down the right field line, i almost tied the game, but it he did double next pitch. but a ground out ended the inning
                          6th inning
mike trout 1 out bunt then a stolen base, then pedroia rips a double to the right center gap. TIE GAME
                          7th inning- still 1-1
                          kemp- single, attempted steal, caught.
                          inning over on 2K's
9th inning johnson gets Reynolds and Pena swinging and a grounder to end the inning. his night is done, leaves the game with 9.0 IP 7 Hits 1 run 1 earned run 1 walk 10 strikeouts and 121 pitches thrown.
Bottom 9 trout, pedroia line outs, eric hosmer single reflected off the SS glove, and yoenis "the big bat" cespedes comes up and gets sawed off on a cutter to ground out to 2nd.
                          EXTRAS
top 10- jeff francis takes over for me. 2 DEEP fly balls to dead center, both caught and a grounder to second.
                          Bottom 10
                          1 out

I need help picking a team to start a franchise with. Originally I was going to do one with the Cardinals and trade a lot of the veterans to rebuild, but the more I think about it the less I like it. So which team should I play with. I kind of want to rebuild a team that has a decent farm system and some players to trade away for more prospects. Any suggestions?

i loved playing with the dodgers they have a great hitter in kemp pitcher in kershaw- and if you wanted you can basically trade them for anyone. and eithier always hits well, along with loney, and dee gordon is a great young shortstop , and if you have OSFM rosters you have a future ace in Zack Lee in the minors. if im not doing a fantasy draft team i use the dodgers (and i bleed yankee blue)
