Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
thinking on selling my psp somehow and buying a vita...prolly stupid i know considering the new ps3 will be out and its a $400 investment but sue me....
anyways, question...do you HAVE to use the touch screen while playing? or can you turn it off? I get the impression you have to use it to select your pitch location? I surely hope not. was hoping gameplay would be similar to how it played with the psp and you used the left joystick.Comment

I bought a Vita and MLB 12 The Show today and I have some impressions.
+ It's an accurate and very good looking translation of the PS3 version at the core
+ Cloud saves
+ Home Run Derby mode has HR celebration cam
- Uniforms don't get dirty and the fields don't wear throughout a game
- Only mode of presentation in games is Fast Play so no HR celebration cam, replays, etc..
- It doesn't run at 60 FPS
- No custom batting cameras
Overall, I like the Vita version a lot - I've been playing it all day basically - but I do feel it was a little bit over hyped by some of the people on this forum because it's missing quite a few things compared to the PS3 version.
You can add this:
- framerate problems with batters view
- no players in dugouts on replays
- no rain
- left dpad batter/pitcher ratings not working
- only 2 spring training stadiums
- some minor league stadiums missing
- no classic stadiums DLC and other ones ( old Yankee, Sun Life, Metrodome etc)Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
I hadn't played on the Vita in a week ... my gosh I was terrible! My timing was all off and I couldn't catch up to anything. After being nearly no-hit by Bud Norris, I went back and lowered the pitch speed from 3 to 1 and that has helped my timing.
I was hoping to keep my sliders the same on both systems for the cross-platform play, but until I have the ability to play more games, they'll have to be a little different.
Still, it's very nice to load up a Franchise game from the Cloud and play games that matter while I'm waiting for my car to be fixed, or while I'm waiting out a halftime break during a sporting event I'm covering.Currently Playing:

Yeah it's been great. I've played close to 14 games since Sunday! Of course I was off Monday so a number of those were played at home on the PS3 but man, it's got it's hooks in me. I've already made it to exactly where we are in the real season. I started 1 day after 1.16 was released.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
Has the cloud transfer been fixed? I am thinking about picking up a Vita for a road trip I have coming up so that I can keep my franchise going. I am also justifying the purchase because it will allow me to watch netflixwhile the wife is watching housewives, but let's be honest its more because I don't want to let my franchise sit a week.Comment

If you can get away with just using the stick, then you'll have figured something out that I have not or have infinite patience.
I do use the stick quite a bit, but against better batter', crucial situations, deep counts, etc It just becomes much easier to touch the screen then to watch the ball shake and jump everywhere like I have no control over my thumb.Comment

I've gotten used to the stick for pitching. It still shakes but not as bad as I've figured out the nuances of it, and pitch quite well with it. Of course, I've played well over 60 games though.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
Do you guys draw any walks on the Vita?
It seems lately that even with adjusted sliders (CPU Pitching at 3-3-3) on All-Star, the CPU throws 70-75% strikes and I'm lucky to get 1 walk a game. I don't chase too many pitches out of the zone, so I'm kind of at a loss since getting on base is kind of important in baseball.
Plus, the fact the CPU throws so many strikes boosts their confidence very early and it makes it tough to get hits off of them.Currently Playing:
