Havent bought it yet, *IF* I get it it will be when the price drops or someone has a cheap copy. But no, from what I read and the videos I watched I doubt Ill enjoy it anymore than I did 11. The only thing I can see right now that I would like is the new ball physics. Nothing else I have seen that I wanted changed or improved has been changed.

Buy the game or stop talking.

Also, in my opinion, MLB 12 The Show has earned at least an 8.5.

You already conceded to the new, ball physics, so I don't understand this either. New swing mechanics are part of the ball physics, that's in the game. Unless you meant animation, not mechanics.

as I said I dont need interaction with this years game to see those things are still the same.

I actually agree with you here. I don't need to play every game in existence to have an idea of which ones I will enjoy and which ones I will not. While I find your opinions illogical, you're definitely right in that you don't need playing experience to make them.

And to the last part of your post, online is actually quite solid this year, and definitely not broken. Not sure what on earth made you draw that conclusion.

And how can you argue what a 7.5 means? You can argue with what it should mean, and I'd more or less agree with you. There are surveys all over the place that use a balanced 10 point scale, where 5 is halfway towards whatever objective, and a 7.5 would generally be a quality score. However, the reality is that for the gaming community, this is simply not the case.

In video game world, a 7.5 just isn't that good, and this is exaggerated for a game that comes out every year. I might pay 60 bucks for a Mortal Kombat game that gets scored a 7, because it will last me at least a few years. The Show on the other hand has yearly cycles, and who wants to pay 60 bucks a year for a game that's only "good?"

If you are looking for more after the first couple of months of patches, I would humbly submit that this is just not the industry standard and for good reason. There is simply not time nor resources to fix every bug...especially when you are in the midst of developing the next installment. Sports games become more detailed and complicated year after year and trying to hold them to a standard from the past will only lead to disappointment. We always strive to put out the best, most error-free product as possible, but given the intricate nature of the product and short development cycle, things are just not going to be perfect. This fact is just a reality of the software industry and business in general in many cases.

And I must respectfully disagree with Woodweaver on this "industry standard" argument. That kind of defensive thinking only exists on the inside of any particular industry. I realize that you are right and I understand the limitations, but regardless, it isn't seen that way. As an ordinary consumer (if I were one, lol), it really doesn't matter how crappy of a game Madden is, that doesn't make me view your own mediocrity with any additional sympathy. I still expect the best of the best, and in my head, no one is forcing you at gun point to make a game every single year, so why should I give that excuse the light of day?

When it comes to a product that isn't a "need," there are no industry standards. The only standard that matters is mine. You don't have the time to make a good game? Well... I guess I'll buy this cute turtle instead, then.

(Just to be clear, the above two paragraphs are meant to be taken hypothetically, from the mind of someone else, for the sake of my argument. I don't even like football, have never played Madden, and don't actually think Madden is crappy, I also do not actually consider Woodweaver, SCEA or The Show to be mediocre).

And for the record, I disagree with the score, and would probably give it an 9.0. That's far from the main point of this post, though.

Dont need to, I know how the game plays, you hit X to swing, hit the buttons to throw etc etc. As I have said I dont need to do that to see what I dislike. What I dislike are things that happen after you press the buttons to put the players in action. Im not gonna go drop 60+ bucks on a game that added one new cool feature and a bunch of other ones that are useless to me.

Thats the good thing about opinions, everyone has one and you can either like it or not. For me seeing guys morph from their stance into the generic 1 stance and go into that off balance follow through takes me out of the immersion of playing the game. What I really hate is they arent all like that so I know there is the capability of having them correct, but it's just not getting done. Some guys main things are having rain in the game, or having DD with created teams, thats just not me.

Your credibility is shot. Nothing else left to say. Please be mindful about what you post in the forum - those reading here typically like to discuss the game with those who have actually played it. If you're going to give your thoughts without having the game, that constitutes trolling to some extent.

Sure thing. Maybe when I find the game for about half off Ill get it and come back with the exact same opinions, maybe Ill head over to bestbuy and play just so I can get some "credibility". My opinions of what I dislike arent gonna change just because of that.

With regards to watching online clips of the game as opposed to playing it yourself:

If I would have recorded (and I DID record one clips and publish it to youtube) the first two days of trying to play, you would have seen multiple freezes of the game, lag through the menus, and stuttering game play, almost to the point of unplayability. At that point, you could have decided the game was worthless and not bothered with it.

HOWEVER, I could also post clips now of beautiful gameplay, no freezes, lag, or hitching/stuttering and my own review of a MOSTLY glitch-free, mostly realistic (so much so at times that only a replay shows all of the amazing life-likeness!), and most importantly ENJOYABLE game.

What's the difference? My PS3 bluray laser was dirty. A quick few blasts from a can of compressed air and I have a beautiful game.

So yes, it IS important to not trust ONLY online video clips and yes, it IS important to try it on your own.
