I love it. You have to be smart and work every hitter. As the game gets into later innings you can feel the pressure. Played A's at Orioles. Brought Fuentes in to pitch the 9th game tied at 2. I walked the 1st 2 hitters. Long story short O's win 3 to 2 !!!!! Loved every minute of it!!!

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
I'd like to join the discussion about how to add "effort" to Pulse Pitching.
I thought what H&V wrote (i.e., hold longer on pitch selection till controller rumbles indicating maximal effort) is the way that most makes sense to just carry over the notion from Classic pitching. As in Classic, pitch accuracy can be lower for greater effort, by making the pulse oscillates to a larger circle in that case. So user still has input into accuracy as well, it makes it harder to pinpoint when the pulse can be larger like it already is right now.
Another way without adding any additional user action, is to make pulse oscillates in a varying but periodical fashion. I attach an image to explain better what I'm talking about. Currently, I think pulse goes from min to max radii in a periodic manner with a constant amplitude (bottom two plots in the figure). What about making it oscillate like the one on top? When the oscillation amplitude is smallest, it obviously is easier to locate your pitch, so that means your pitch effort is less. When the oscillation amplitude is the largest, it's harder to control but you can put in more effort.
Either way, we have some user input both in pitch effort and command, and player attributes still play roles in how fast and how big the pulse oscillates.Attached FilesComment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
Guys
Im enjoying pulse pitching, however I have a couple questions.
Is there a way to control velocity( take a little off, put a little extra on) with the fastball or how hard/sharp the breaking ball is thrown?
I have seen it mentioned but not explained on the "counting technique" to help better execute pulse pitching, can someone answer the first question & explain the second?
ThanksComment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
This may have been suggested but why not:
Pick pitch
then instead of throwing with X you can either:
1: Have the 4 buttons each mean different strengths X Full power, O 3/4 power etc...
or
2: throw with Right trigger or RS (Push up).
The harder you push (or pull the triger) the harder the throw.
or
3:everything like now with the added step of pulling in right trigger before pitching. All the way in in full strength, 1/2 way in is 1/2 strength etc..
1 and 2 may be to hard as when you are trying to get the PP cursor just right the tendency is to push button fast/hard just by instinct.
Anyways stuck at work and passing timeJoshua:

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
I'm really enjoying PP, but I'm not having great success. I can't seem to keep anybody under 7-8 runs a game no matter who is pitching. There always seems to be one big inning that gets out of hand. Is anyone else having this problem? For those of you that are having success, any tips?Comment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
Work the corners. Try and set up the hitters and stay out of the hitting zone if you have a pitcher-advantage pitch.
With API on, the cpu will treat you like an ugly adopted kid if you do not move the ball around the zone.
good luck!

Thanks for not letting me down and bringing a chart into this discussion.
Never stop being yourself man!
I actually also like the idea of varying oscillation with the Pulse. But that's another discussion entirely.Comment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
You already do three steps now - if you consider a press and release 2 and 3. The release just comes later for more effort if you would like. You can build up while your pitcher is in the windup/stretch and let go before the ball release.
Too much effort = greater inaccuracy. Plus you maintain user interaction as opposed to just button presses and letting the cpu decide everything. You have the balance most want.
Looking at gameplay videos, a lot of guys obviously are holding longer in an effort to be more precise, hitting when the pulse is the smallest. So that kinda goes in the opposite way.
One thing that can be added to this interface, so that longer holding leads to more effort but less accuracy, is that when you hold longer, either (or both) the amplitude of pulse gets larger or the pulsing gets faster, as you hold longer, in order to make the pitch command less accurate.Comment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
I just realized something...
As I sat, transfixed on the pulsating beacon before me, contemplating my next pitch... I grabbed a paper and pen and my Morse Code Translator.
The pulsing continued, a feverish pitch... I began to write... letters coming...
B... U... Y... (I can feel it in my eyes, fighting nausea)
M..L..B...
T..H...E... ( faster now..)
S...H...O....W.. ( I can see it)
1...3...
hey, what the he...??

I'm having the same problem, but that's what difficulty levels are for. I'm literally playing on Veteran pitching right now.
No you cannot control velocity. For your second question, it's just a matter of learning the pattern. The pulse - err... pulses - at a rhythmic and consistent pace. If you count on each pulse, at the smallest point, it will help you time your button press more accurately. Counting out loud helps initially, but isn't necessary. The trick is to anticipate your own speech, instead of trying to react to the pulsation.Comment

Re: Is anyone else loving Pulse Pitching?
Is API on by default on HoF pitching? I hope so because I've been having success with PP and I don't want it to be because API was off.Comment
