Again, to each their own. I will never fully debate preference as that is exactly what it is, preference.

But from a realism perspective, I think pulse pitching delivers. Even the best pitchers in the game throw mistakes. No pitcher, no matter how great is 100% perfect all of the time. Meter pitching gives you that ability to never miss a spot and be absolutely precise with every single pitch. I rarely made mistakes in 11 with meter pitching unless I was tired and not paying attention.

I agree that velocity needs to be added to PP as pitchers can and do change speeds all of the time. Take something off, add something for the SO etc....

Edit: I guess I just like the thought of not knowing if I can make that perfect pitch in a clutch situation. With PP, I have to concentrate and be accurate to get that last guy out. With meter, at least for me, it was almost a guaranteed.

Eh, I'm mixed right now. I want to like it, but I'm having trouble with it. I get the crux of the feature, but it seems like it's a crapshoot whether the ball lands near the circle. I also get the factors, such as fatigue, confidence, ratings, and the player you're pitching to, but more often than not I'm seeing the ball all over the place rather than near the spot where the circle is. To me, it seems like the circle only represents what we can't see in classic pitching (duh, right) and if that's the case, I'd rather not waste my time trying to input something that doesn't feel as rewarding as I'd like and just go back to classic pitching. I'm happy for those who like it, though! That means SCEA will likely put time into refining the mode even more. Overall, the input/reward just isn't enough for me.

EDIT: I could never walk anybody using PP, but they hit a massive amount of foul balls, which are the exact opposite results I have with Classic pitching.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't like pulse pitching. I just cant stare at something blinking like that for 9 innings--it starts to get to me after a while.

Not only that, but I find the pulsation to be either innacurate, not reducing small enough, or not difficult enough.

I don't know, it just seem to bother me for some reason.

You are not alone. I just tried it again, this time in practice mode against the Rangers. Kershaw did alright, even though pitches didn't always go where they were supposed to. However, I can't imagine going through at least nine innings looking at that pulsating circle, and it does slow the game down in a big way, at least for me.

I will stay with Classic pitching, which also results in the ball not always going where I want it, but at least the game moves along better and my eyes are spared the pulsing. Please don't be offended if you like Pulse pitching.

You guys do know that the circle only represents the starting point of a breaking ball, right?

If the circle is large, the breaking ball can begin at any point within the circle meaning the final location won't always be within the circle.

Played over half a dozen games and have never seen a straight fastball not finish within the circle.

But I have definitely seen a fastball go slightly outside the circle when timed perfect a few times. This happens mostly during warmups.

I was loving PP, but it got way too easy for me as I learned to time it up, even on HOF + Legend. Switched back to classic and am having way more realistic results.

Wow! I have yet to be able to master the timing. I would certainly give you credit.

I am not terrible, I am sporting a 1.58 ERA, 40 SO's. But with meter pitching I entered post season with a 0.25 ERA 100+ SO's and one the CY Young every year. Being that lights out is unrealistic to me.

Bad news that I may be able to master it like meter but right now I am enjoying the raised difficulty and the unpredictable path that ball will take and hitters making contact.

I'm curious as to which difficulty you're on...I find it hard to believe that you would have either of those ERAs on HoF or Legend...

Go to Legend, and then go to your sliders and turn Pitcher Accuracy and Consistency down to Zero.

Now go throw a few games.

I really loved the new analog pitching from last year. I thought it was really fun and pretty good at giving me realistic results.

I hated PP at first and was terrible at it. Walked many many guys in the first couple of innings of games and then settled in a little bit. Finally got better at it by the third game... but I just don't find it very fun. It also takes too long. I will give it a few more exhibitions because I won't be starting my season til Knight's rosters come out... but I'm pretty sure I'm going back to analog pitching. I'm a little disappointed the graphics don't look as good as they did last year regarding the analog pitching meter. Looks kinda crappy.

Start throwing strikes and making good pitches. As you confidence in each pitch goes up, the circle begins to tighten up.

Full confidence, and the pitching circle will be just bigger than a baseball at its smallest point.

Lacking confidence, and the thing is the size of a beachball.

How large is always large?

I don't believe the circle is ever really that small or say, the size of the baseball.

I'll take your word for it, but I haven't seen it. The only time a pitch doesn't end up where I want (or near the vicinity) is when I screw up and I'm throwing a hard breaking ball. That's when I say: "uh-oh..."

I do miss the ability to really snap off the breaking ball like you can with Analog, but the fact that I can go an entire game with Analog on the hardest settings, and not walk a person, makes the PP a bit more frustrating, and therefore, for me, more exciting.
