Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
My hitter is in AAA and I really didn't notice a difference in the pitch speed from AA to AAA, although the AAA pitchers are better and probably have more good, hard throwers. But I just played in the Futures game with my hitter and the pitching seemed faster and more difficult there, but maybe that's just because I was facing the best of the best in that game...
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I agree with you. I can understand how working the count and making the pitcher throw more pitches is a good thing...but when you get a meatball on the first or second pitch and get a line drive base hit, I don't like just getting an ok at bat. Especially annoying is when the coach calls for a hit and run, so you have to swing and then you get an ok or a bad at bat because you had to swing at the first pitch...Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
This game is getting frustrating.
Contact/speed 3rd baseman.
Drafted by Milwaukee.
I'm thinking, "sweet" considering their current 3rd baseman probably isn't going to be playing/starting much longer.
I bat .320's in AA ball and they proceed to trade me to the Royals (ARRGGHH!). The Royals have an f-ing log jam at third.
They trade me for Hosmer, I guess to replace Fielder, but they have no top 3rd baseman prospect.
I get to KC and after a season and a half, get called up to the show. Moustakas gets put at DH and I'm starting at 3rd batting 3rd.
-Rookie season is awesome.
Low .300's, 32 hr, 112 rbi, 47 steals!
30/30 season and rookie of the year.
Royals finish 25 games back.
I sign a monster extension 5 years @ 9.5 per (to take me right to free agency).
2nd season I start on monster roll. .340, 11 hr, 32 rbi in month of May, then blow out my knee... out for season.
Royals finish 20+ games back.
3rd season I'm in top 5 of each triple crown category and I have 30 steals in mid July. I'm looking at a possible 40/40 or even a 50/50 if I can get really hot in the homer department.
THEY SEND ME DOWN for missing a couple of impossible goals.
It was like 15 walks and 15 hr's in 2/3 weeks.
How can you draw walks when you're swinging for the fences every at bat to meet the damn goals?
So I spend 2 months in AAA stewing.
By the time I get called back up I miss the 40/40 season by 3 hr's, miss the batting title because the lack of at bats.
Royals finish 20 games back.
4th season I begin asking for a trade every chance I get.
No trade happens.
Again I'm in line for a 40/40, possible triple crown if I'm lucky, season.
They take away my green light when I get nailed 2 times in a row stealing second.
OK, cool, I understand.
I'm on 1st and a teammate is on 2nd.
He steals third and I simply follow him like anyone would.
I didn't start the steal I simply followed his lead and took the free base.
THEY SEND ME DOWN in the middle of another MVP type season.
By the time I make it back up I miss out on all the trophies for lack of at bats again.
Royals finish 3 games back!!! I think if I wasn't in AAA for a month we might've won a few more games. ARRRGGHH!
Season 5: Just playing for the money now.
It's early June the f-ing Royals are already 10.5 games back.
We lose every game 9-6 or 5-3... pitching staff sucks.
They won't trade me even though I beg for one every chance I get.
I guess I have to wait for free agency to get off this team.
Luckily I started as 18 years old so I'll be 26/27 when I hit free agency.Comment

Out of curiosity how many games do you play a season?Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
So I'm seeing everyone say you need 6 years of MLB service to become a free agent. I get that. What I don't get is why after each season I get an offer of 500,000 dollars despite the fact that I'm winning MVP's and triple crowns. Not that the money matters, it's just a game. I just hate that that part isn't very realistic. I also play every single game every season. Maybe I need to start simming some so I don't get so sick of the team.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
So far my first career in RTTS has started off like this.
I picked 2b as my main position with utility infielder as a backup. Right handed hitting speedster with a decent glove.
Was drafted into the NAT's farm system.
So far I'm just starting my second month and I'm as hot as can be. Hitting .453 39 hits in 86 at bats. 21 RBI's and 2 home runs. I'm leading the league in triples with 5 and second in doubles with 9. My OPS is at about 1.200 and I have 6 sb's not getting caught a single time yet. My fielding percentage isn't half bad at .971.
At this rate, how long should it take to make it to the show, I've also been hitting all my goals by the way.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I play 3rd so there's only 3-5 defensive plays.
I do sim if I'm put in to pinch run on my off days.
BTW- I broke my foot and tore 5 ligaments in real life so I've had A LOT of free time to get these games in.
* Update another trade deadline has passed and I'm still in KC.
Top 10 in all triple crown categories and currently benched for missing goals.
It was 12 walks or 28 rbis in 3 weeks.
28 rbi's is a lot for a 3 week span... like f-ing impossible.
I average about 25 walks a season so to draw 12 in 3 weeks wasn't going to happen either.Comment

If you keep hitting your goals, you'll be up very quickly.
Maybe even in your second season.
The problem with that is your player will be very underdeveloped, stuck on the bench, and you'll be unable to earn enough points to build him up.
It's almost better to miss a few goals like only 3 out of 4 and then every two or three miss all of them. You'll keep your starting spot in the minors until you can build up the type of player you want.
I made the show in year 3 as a September call up and then stayed up the next year.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
On my second RTTS player this year, a SS, I got YLOD and lost my first guy who I had in the majors. Kinda frustrating but I like that when I got called up I was struggling to hit .230 since I was still undeveloped. Anyway I was playing against the Mets AAA team and the opposing pitcher was Chuck James and the thought that crossed my mind was," Man, me and him were the 1-2 punch of the Braves rotation in 07, jeez his career has went downhill." Kind of funny how I thought of it as me knowing the guy.Comment
