First and foremost you need a great fastball. Fastballs are the most effective pitch in the game by far (in my opinion). In the end I would probably go with 2 fastballs (4-seam and cutter maybe?). I would also add your ground ball pitch for when you need one.. sinker/splitter. I wouldn't bother with a curve because you need to establish your curveball which you won't have time to do as a closer. Then of course the change/circle change to get guys timing off.

If three pitches I would go with Cutter, Splitter, Circle
If 4 pitches I would go with 4-Seam, Cutter, Circle Change, Splitter
If you go with 5 maybe Fastball, Cutter, Circle, Splitter, 2 Seam?

I'm really just basing this on what I find most effective.. You can always play around with it.

he won't stop and apparently he isn't doing anything wrong by posting 7 times in a row... seriously this thread's grown about 30 pages since he started using this thread as his diary.. kinda ridiculous if you ask me. that's great you're so proud of your virtual superstar but we really don't need to read about every game you played.

anyway you can click his name and add him to your ignore list so you don't see any of his posts.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Has anyone noticed the All-Star voting not making any sense?

My numbers at the break with my SS: .285, 24 HR, 60 RBI, .974 OPS, 96 hits, 13 SB
Elvis Andrus numbers at the break: .282, 10 HR, 47 RBI, .785 OPS, 103 hits, 31 SB

Andrus makes the team, I don't. If hits and stolen bases legitimately outweigh homers, RBI, and OPS by that much, then there is something horribly wrong.

Also making the team over me was Asdrubal Cabrera. .282/7/35/.766/88/4 for those same categories. He's with the Orioles and was not their only representative. Their closer also made the team. I had Cabrera beat in every meaningful category yet he makes it over me.

And in case they take team standings into account, I play for the Indians who are 42-46, Andrus plays for the Yankees who are 43-44, and Cabrera plays for the Orioles who are 35-51, so none of us play for superstar teams that might sway the voting if they coded that in there somehow.

I'm just completely baffled as to why I didn't make the team and it's very frustrating when I've worked hard to improve as a player and get realistic numbers and then don't get rewarded for my improvement.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Oye, stuck in the minors with my RTTS starting pitcher. Got drafted by the Giants (who are LOADED with pitching) and I've worked my way up to best pitcher on my double A team. Gotten two emails back to back months about them not having room to move me up and so they'll just let me simmer in double A.

Kinda depressing, but my guy's only 18 and raw, so I'm all right with it for now. Giants have a pitcher on the tradeblock so maybe they'll trade a guy away and do some promotions. Here's hoping, huh?
                    Any comments are welcome.

Started a starting pitcher last night. Drafted by the Angels. In the middle of my second start I suffered a broken arm throwing my new curveball and now Im out 6 months.. Got to love the realism.

I finally gave him a cutter, a change-up, and a Curveball, I regret that curveball It sucks and improving it will cost too much training points. I dont think I'll improve those batting stats anyway I'm sure that I'll always get pinch hitted even If I play in the National.

I was drafted by the Houston Astros and played for their AA Affiliate where I was too good to play at this level, I think nobody ever hit my fastball! So the Astros traded me to the Giants 2 months later, I'm still in AA playing for the Richmond Flying Squirrels (WTF?)

You're stuck with the Flying Squirrels too I see, lol. Why San Fran has a minor league team in Richmond Virginia-one the East Coast-boggles my mind. I've been stuck there as well...wish I could get traded but the Giants love my guy too much.
