Re: What hitting option are you using?
I'm using pure analog on HOF, and I love it.
Some people get hung up on the stride, but the stride window is so forgiving that as long as you're close it really isn't that big of a factor. Plus, I'm pretty sure there's a stride slider this year, so you could always zero out that slider if it's really giving you trouble.
I'm probably going to give the zone analog a try eventually, but for now, I'm really happy with the pure analog.Comment

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I REALLY want to enjoy analog as feel it more immersive, but striding messes with my concentration so i swing at everything can't can't draw a walk. In the VITA it's even worse as i can't recognize the pitches thrown at me as i can in the PS3.
I would love to be able to hit with the stick without having to stride. I know i can tweak the stride slider but it's not about that but that i don't want to pull back and forward on the RS. It's like if once i move it back, i can't avoid to think i'm already swinging so i always move it forward even if my brain is telling me that it is a ball.
I use zone but most of the time it's just like timing only aith zone selected before i swing. IE if i think it's going to be inside, i put move there the LS and then just hit X at the right time. Trying to move the LS and press X usually ends on the PCI not moving as i do both at same time.Comment

Re: What hitting option are you using?
This is my first year playing this game and I tested out all the hitting options for about 5 days. Without question, Zone Plus Analog is my favorite. If you adjust your batting camera a little lower and move it back a little, you can tell pitches very easily and really begin to get your swing down.
I turn guess pitch and the pci indicator off, and just leave the strike zone and the pitch callout so I know what the pitcher is throwing. I'm used to the swing stick from another game, but having the left stick control what contact I get has taken hitting to another level for me--it's so awesome when you get in a groove and start making good contact on everything.
To anyone who has sworn off ZPA because of difficulty, I would suggest adjusting your camera and giving it another shot. It's really not that hard once you can see the pitches well.
Also, I find the PCI much more responsive than Zone (or swinging with the buttons). I gave up on Zone because of the PCI not moving 70% of the time. On ZPA, this hardly ever happens because of the stride, which gives you that extra millisecond to guess/see the right location.Last edited by Kernel Pie; 03-12-2012, 06:55 AM.Comment

I use Timing because I play on the Vita and my fingers are too big for those little joysticks.Da Hoppa?Comment

I use Zone.
I maybe the only one who misses this, but I miss cursor hitting from allstar baseball on the N64.

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I practiced Zone + for a while before playing my 1st game. It took about 10 practice sessions before I felt comfortable.
I played my 1st game with hitting on Veteran and beat the Angles with the Yanks, 5-3 with 3 homers, 8 total hits, 8 strike outs. Felt Veteran was too easy, so...
I played my 2nd game with hitting on Super Star and lost to the Rays with the Yanks, 5-2 with 1 homer, 5 hits, 12 strike outs. I felt like I lost my concentration and was swinging at everything. My 5 hits were probably my only 5 quality at bats.
Seems like the key for me will be getting used to aiming before swinging and not swinging at everything I aim at, especially inside pitches.
And I bat from the Broadcast cam.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I have played with zone since forever but like other people have said, the pci seems to stay in the center when i swing because i move the stick almost at the same time. Have started to try and like pure analog though. Will try that for a while."In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." - Vin Scully

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I'm sticking with zone this year for sure. But I've got a question that applies to all hitting modes.
What is your strategy for laying off low pitches and sliders running out of the zone? I get SO unbelievably frustrated with the hitting in this game but not because of the game itself, simply because I CANNOT lay off enough pitches. I've tried and tried, but I always swing at balls out of the zone and strike out.
My biggest problem is seeing pitches that are going to break out of the zone.Comment

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I was using analog, but between the stride and swing...i was horrible...too horrible to keep using it. Love the idea tho. If I was a little better...lol
It's back to timing for me...and I still have issues putting runs up lol. I pitch amazing tho...keeps me in the game lol.NCAA BBALL10 PS3

Re: What hitting option are you using?
I was using timing up until yesterday but after giving zone + analog a go...I'm sticking with it. It's not as difficult as I thought it would be and the stride is actually quite forgiving if you get the rest close to the money.
Having some input to where the ball goes allows for so much more variety in shots compared to timing. I am able to chip balls between the IF and OF and spilt the fielders easier. Timing shots always seemed to end up in the same parts of the field or go directly at fielders.
It also adds a bit more of a challenge but is so much more rewarding when you bomb a HR or drive a ball directly between the OF's to the wall.Comment

I prefer zone plus... I find I get better contact and my BA is a lot better.
Like the guy above me said the trick is to pick a spot and wait for your pitch. Go practice your timing in timing mode to work on your stride. Its not that hard to get. I just barely move the stick back before the pitchers release. If you pull the stick all the way back it will mess it up for you. Just move it enough to get your batters leg up.
