Good poll with interesting results JayD.

I would like to see all sliders have a greater influence on the game mechanics. The pitch speed is a great example of that, and could use additional tweaking.

The problem with that statement being "Real Life," This is not real life. The majority of us, are not playing on 3d televisions, or virtual reality. It is a baseball video game, there is lag, delay, etc... I think the there is a legit speed problem, when there are more people that have it set on 0 then there are at default? Just my opinion, I set mine on 3. I would probably have an easier time reading and hitting a real life Justin Verlander faster, than reading it and hitting it on this game. You can guess on the game, but reading and hitting it is extremly tough.

Seems like when I put it on 4 all of my swings are extremely early (but making solid contact) but on 5 it's all late swings... I don't know
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

Mine was like that but for 3-4 instead of 4-5.

Did you try them out in a regular game or just the batting practice timing drill? Cause the practice isn't the best way to figure out the timing(it gives you a good idea though). I used 3 in practice and I got lots of early swings, but during a game, I ended up getting a good amount of late and early swings as well as alot of good/perfect swings.

I usually end up bumping the pitch speed slider down to 4, but default has been fine for me so far. I'll probably just end up leaving pitch speed at default this year.

I tried it on RTTS and all of my swings are just extremely early like if I'm pulling the ball but it makes solid contact all the time.. but it doesn't feel right. I might have to stick with 5 and swing like I do using 4

Using timing I am fine on default but as soon as I try pure analogue, zone etc, I need to lower it to 3 because I seem to be late on every pitch.

Might just stick with timing and gradually increase the speed if need be.

I haven't voted yet, but I just took it down to 4, and am loving the results. Finally scored more than 2 runs, and through 7.5 innings, have drawn 3 walks and 1 intentonal. While still striking out it's not at the mid teen levels that it was on default. I think I am gonna stick with 4 this year. Last year I was using 0. I like that on guys that throw mid to upper 90s I'm still behind the fastball if I'm not sitting on it. But now I can at least put the ball in play a bit more which is all I really wanted. More balls in play and less swing and misses. So that is really working for me now.

I like the de3fault speed as far as realism goes but I just cannot read and react at that speed. I find you have to guess and commit nearly the instant you see the ball leave the hand , and that is not realistic.

I will turn it to zero every year before I even throw a pitch.

I'm using 4 in PS3 and 0 in the vita.

Funny when we talk about a "realistic" speed. If it was realistic, 99% of us would be hitting at all as 99% of us are not even minor leaguers (we might have some playing the game, would be nice to read their opinion).

I don't have trouble hitting a fastball at higher speeds so much as it is difficult to pick up the location. I can sit on fastballs and adjust to off speed pitches, but with a higher pitch speed setting it is really difficult to read the location to tell if it is a ball or strike and still have time to hit the button and swing on anything above 90 mph. Perhaps this will improve with time as I might learn to recognize the pitch earlier, but I keep mine at 3 right now mainly to have time to read the pitch and react with a swing or not. I particularly have trouble on pitches up and in, which is probably realistic.

I actually think that picking up the location of the pitch out of the pitcher's hand seems more difficult in this kind of simulation than in actual 3 dimensional life, having played baseball through high school. Of course there is a lot more to swinging a bat in real life than pressing a button.

You're not alone there. I too think it's actually easier in real life, and I too have actual baseball experience.
