Lastly i dont want to be giving up too much talent. Not too mention Either's contract is only 4.5 mil right now, the game probably will let me sign him 5 year for 25 mil, which again is unrealistic so ill probably pay him 4 years around 32-36 mil.
i agree...in a perfect world, i would like a mix of vets and rookies...but the Astros have a small budget to work with at the start....are u sure u wanna tie up 9M or so to a 28-year old when your team probably isnt gunna go anywhere for a few years? plus u gunna have to re-sign all of your key rookies and fill out the rest of your major-league roster.... if u wanna be VERY realistic, Ethier wouldnt be going anywhere in the first place....

Although I am looking for one more pitcher around 28-29 years old. I have dealt Wandy already.

Teams out of it are Cubs (Maybe Garza), pirates, Blue Jays, Braves, Mets, Os, Twins, Mariners, Rays, Padres
im sure Garza has a big contract or will demand one in the offseason....

I'd go for a 25, 26 y/o hitter. He'll be hitting his prime as the youngins come on up.

Between Garza (8.2 mil) and Either Id probably be shelling out 18 mil. With a 61 million budget, I still think I am in a good situation. It gives me 2 guys that i can build around.

Ps. I thought Either was getting looks from other teams. I know he isn't necessarily on the block but i believe he has gotten calls.

Lastly, If i dont go after Either what's the price of Upton and Garza?

EDIT: Upton is 3 years of 34.1 M. Now that could hurt me.

It should be a long tired road considering the fans/media I have to deal with.

as someone whose been franchising with the Astros since day 1, it's not worth breaking the bank for 2 vets whose gunna eat up at least 1/4 of your yearly budget...hell, i been complaining about Ben Francisco's 580k in the game...u cant imagine how i feel about Wandy or CoCo Cordero's asinine salaries lol

Dump Wandy. I did. Wasn't worth is ridiculous contract. 7.5 mil for a guy that was 4-6 with a 3.39ERA

i strongly disagree on building around Garza and Ethier.....neither has upside that u look for...i rather stay in-house or go after cheap veterans who can hold the fort down till Springer, Santana, etc. are ready

i hope he's gone by the time Scott's rosters come out so i don't have to do it myself....not paying 7.5M for a 3rd starter at best.... his ERA is pretty solid tho in your franchise

Santana and Springer are years away. Especially Santana, I would at least to see if i can become competitive.

                    Agree to disagree.

How long did you wait for Singleton? He's looking really good in the minors for me. I think I am going to bring him up soon.

if u throw your rookies into the fire right away, best case scenario, they can sniff the majors by the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014.....we all wanna be competitive...but at the expense of giving up a boatload of B prospects or maybe a few A's depending on how they're performing(which is realistically what ur gunna have to do), i wuddnt do it........i havent re-started my franchise yet as im waiting for the new rosters, but from what i've heard from other Astros franchisers, he's not expected to reach the majors till at least 2014 because his ratings took a hit

I'd ask that in the Astros thread.

If you're dead set on a vet, Chris Young? Logan Morrison as a young guy? Melky Cabrera? Nick Markakis? Shane Victorino? Carl Crawford?

                        Just some thoughts...

i personally have a man-crush on CY so he'd be my first choice with LoMo as my 2nd........i wouldnt mind Markakis but he's injury-prone....i'd be ok with the Milk Man...Carl has a crazy contract plus he's injury-prone.....Shane Victorino gunna demand a crazy contract plus he's 31

Don't agree with the last two, but if he's dead set on a vet..... Personally, I like the first four in the order I posted.

Crawford wasn't injured too much as a Ray. I think it's just a case of bad luck.

plus i forgot to mention, Crawford doesnt bring power that the Astros desperately crave...in terms of power, i like your first four as well

LoMo would be better than Markakis, he wouldn't be great for power.
