Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Sounds ok to me
Paxton/Walker/Hultzen from the Mariners?
Leake or Bailey from the Reds? (No clear need for a C though)
Karstens and Tabata from the Pirates?
Masterson from the Indians? LaPorta outrighted, Hafner and Kotchman ain't coming back meaning more time for Santana at 1B over Russ Canzler. Only other C is Lou Marson so Arencibiba would be a fit
How is Arencibia anything more than positional filler at this point? Sure he hits HR's, but he doesn't walk, strikes out a ton, and plays sub par defense. Salty does everything Arencibia does and better to boot, and we all know what his value is.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

I almost coughed out a lung after reading this

My vision of ponying up more than JPA for one of those guys didn't reach the keyboard as I had my head burping out names for other trade targets and just kept writing
I do however feel that JPA offers more upside than Salty and that comes from me being a Sox fan. Not saying there's a huge difference but if I were to value them, Salty would be a high C and JPA a low to weak mid BFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I wouldn't laugh TOO hard at JPA for Paxton, because from what I've read there are GMs who think he'll be anywhere from a #2 to a reliever, so it's possible. But Hultzen or Walker... no."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Yeah Paxton looks to have dropped in value this past season without GM Jack 'I can't spell his last name' wanting to see it. He needs to hit the ground running in 2013 to regain value and consideration as a top of the rotation starter other than a no 4 or 5 guyFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm really hoping the Mariners sell high on Paxton because he has a good chance of never reaching his full potential. Not saying he's likely to be a bust, but I don't really see him as a TOR pitcher, although Gio somehow made it work but it took him a couple of years.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
JPA would fit in your lineup nicely, if not for any other reason than he can actually hit.
Similar to how the Rays need to sell high on Hellickson."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't really think being a back end starter is an option for him. If he cuts down on the walks he's a #2, and if he doesn't he ends up as 7th or 8th inning guy. If he can just get his BB/9 under 4 then he becomes a legit starter.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment
