    A few more things:

Did you lower CPU pitcher sliders as well? Do this and you will see more meatballs down the middle.

At that leads to my other point, I know with my setup (timing, guess pitch off, strike zone and hot zone both off) it's best to wait for good pitches to hit. If you swing at pitcher's pitches, that is pitches on the edge of the zone, you will most likely not have much success. However, wait for a good pitch in the middle of the zone and you should be able to drive it well. If a pitcher makes a good pitch on the edge of the zone, just let it go.

And finally, try using a custom hitting camera. This works wonders for me, and others too. The better read you can get on a ball, the better off you'll be, as it will allow you to swing at more hittable pitches.

Good luck. Maybe take some batting practice too, selecting the timing option from the pause menu to help you get in a groove.

      Re: Timing Hitting Help

Had not played this game since the 10 version, so I had a hard time hitting in 12 at first. I went all the way to Rookie level for batting and spent the first two day in the batting cage to get my timing back as it is certainly different this year. Once I got it back I moved up and started playing games and now am back to All-Star. People need to stop expecting to dominate from the start and in every game and stop worrying about what level they play. Im a hacker like most others, but turning off the guess pitch and taking more pitches has help me the most for drawing walks and scoring.

Give it some time and the hits will come and play more than a few games before jumping off the cliff or into slider hell.

I think this is more important than upping the hitting sliders personally. If you bump down the CPU pitch consistancy you should start seeing some more pitches catching the middle of the plate, rather than nipping corners. Another big thing is to foul pitches off with 2 strikes. I know you haven't had a problem with strikeouts, but if you foul of some 2 strike pitches (rather than reaching after them to put them in play) you are likely to get a good pitch to hit. I have had some games like you are describing and it usually stems from making contact with too many pitchers pitches.

The trouble with having perfect timing but weak contact sounds like bad luck, as others have said it all depends on your hitters' ratings. I personally have User solid hits and contact +1 and CPU pitching consistency at -1. It seems to ensure that the CPU can't nibble on the corners too much, since when they do that even perfect timing can't save you.

I just started trying something tonight which is to hold the Left stick up while hitting. I went 14-38 in the game which is really high but this was only because I had the sliders in my favor which will now be going back down.

I mainly did this on ball that were high or in the middle. I pressed down if the balls were low, but for the most part just held up to start and hit the high ones.

Also had 3 extra base hits doing this. Two homeruns with Arencibia and a double with Lawrie

My game before doing this I was 2-29 so you can see the improvement. Give that a try.

Amen @ papernut. I almost flipped into slider mode, but refrained. I messed w all hitting styles. Timing does give variety based on each hitter. Just get it down from rookie and build up. Great thread, though.

You may be right. Having the PCI taken out of your hands with timing hitting removes the ability to focus on one part of the zone, so you're sort of forced to wait for fat pitches. Though you can still drive pitcher's pitches, just not with as much success.

You're going to make a break through. The game may seem on the difficult side, but really it's just a matter of getting a feel for it and making use of the tools at your disposal (sliders, difficulty level, and custom camera), and then just respecting the game of baseball itself.

One more tip that came to mind:

The timing window is extremely narrow, even with the timing slider maxed out. So I think it helps to try and hit the ball from gap to gap, in other words up the middle of the field, rather than making a concerted effort to try and hit to straight away left or right. Do this and you will stay on the ball more, and likely square the ball up with more success.

Tried all of your suggestions last night and got great results. Got one of the most realistic games I've played in a while. I'm going to stick with my current sliders (the ones that were posted earlier in the thread) and try to work my way back up to the default All-Star settings.

I tried the classic catcher camera tonight and had a little bit better results. Of the 6 hits I got, had a triple, 3 doubles and two singles.. one off the first base bag, which was pretty neat.

I just need to be patient and learn to take the first pitch unless it's right down central.

Yeah classic allows me to pick up the ball better which is helpful in drawing walks and getting deeper into counts.

If you're up for it, you should definitely try the sliders posted earlier in the thread. They've made a world of difference for me. But I know a lot of people hate changing sliders and feel like it cheating in a way.

Give it a try and see if u like it, i think i found the perfect balance for what i was looking for: not to many hits and specially my every year problem with the show: NOT TO MANY SINGLES... so far im getting about 7-10 hits per game with 3-4 extra base hits wich is perfect imo.
These sliders are about as balanced
as I've come across so far! However, I am using analog + zone and things feel natural with variety. Thanks!

I'm struggling with timing as well (Vita version). I played vs the worse AA team as the AL All Stars and only managed 8 hits and this was on rookie with the pitch speed all the way down. I have no idea what my issue is this year.
