A few more things:
Did you lower CPU pitcher sliders as well? Do this and you will see more meatballs down the middle.
At that leads to my other point, I know with my setup (timing, guess pitch off, strike zone and hot zone both off) it's best to wait for good pitches to hit. If you swing at pitcher's pitches, that is pitches on the edge of the zone, you will most likely not have much success. However, wait for a good pitch in the middle of the zone and you should be able to drive it well. If a pitcher makes a good pitch on the edge of the zone, just let it go.
And finally, try using a custom hitting camera. This works wonders for me, and others too. The better read you can get on a ball, the better off you'll be, as it will allow you to swing at more hittable pitches.
Good luck. Maybe take some batting practice too, selecting the timing option from the pause menu to help you get in a groove.
