They will get criticized left and right about how this stat and that stat isn't correct....until they iron out the kinks. What I'm saying here is that I think this problem is two-fold: SCEA's current game is based on the user doing the pitching and the swinging, and that it doesn't want to be lumped into the same category as OOTP for the obvious reason (OOTP would absolutely destroy MLB: The Show in the stats and simulation aspects for some time).
So what do you exactly want out of MoM in the Show?

Don't know if you actually look at the stats generated by the gameplay in the Show in MoM (or CPU vs. CPU), but you'd be surprised how good (of course it's not perfect!!) it is at stats department given the game is basically still meant to be an arcade game.

The Show isn't a text-based sim in which you can fine tune the nitty gritty of how things happen at certain frequencies just by a series of dice rolls, so obviously if the Show can be really on par with OOTP, then that would be a monumental achievement in the baseball sim game history. If you are looking for that, then all I can say is good luck but you'll probably find nothing better than the Show for a while anyways.

If you just like to look at baseball stats and don't care how they actually play out on the field, OOTP is great. But if you actually want the game to be played on a (simulated) field, then OOTP won't cut it.

It really is meaningless to discuss which game is better, since they are different types of simulation games.

Sorry for this digression... not supposed to compare games here. Need to keep the discussion to MoM in the Show here...

My only issues with MOM in the show have already been brought up by others in this thread and it would not require a massive upgrade, stop the AI from interfering with the human manager and upgrade franchise a little. I'm not sure what you are discussing is possible to program on a ps3. If anything with that deep a stats base along with great graphics ever comes along it will probably be on a pc.

You know I think a few more people would use the mode if they knew it existed, or how to access it. It doesn't even occupy a spot on the menu or anything. I'm guessing you play MoM by starting a regular franchise but only managing your games when prompted?

Do you guys choose "pitch to batter" or "play ball" when pitching. I chose pitch to batter almost 70% of the time and 30% of the time I choose pitch around or pitch aggressive depending on the situation. I think the CPU throws a lot of strikes when you choose pitch to batter. My team has a 3.09 ERA so far in four games so it's worked out great for me so far. What do you guys do, I don't like "play ball" because the CPU makes too many decisions on its own.

I've tried every combo, but lately I've called every pitch.I tend to micro manage, plus I was getting lit up not calling the pitches.Much better since I started calling the pitches.

@Care just wondered what would you say is the difference between Pitch to batter and Pitch Aggressive?

Pitch aggressive is to get the pitcher to throw a strike. I usually use it if I'm behind in the count against a below average hitter. In my opinion, pitch to batter is just telling the pitcher to pitch an unbiased way and not take into consideration how good or bad the batter is.

I wish one of the Devs would give some insight into it,Brian perhaps.Youre opinion seems to be very possible though.Ive tried to track each pitch location and pitch based on the command given, but could never definitely say what each command did.Do you ever call specific locations for pitches?

If I'm in a clutch situation and I'm facing a tough hitter I'll sometimes check the hot/cold zones and call for a couple of pitches in his cold zone. Or if I see that the pitcher has been pitching low the entire at bat then I'll call for a pitch high for the strike out, or if he's been pitching inside the whole at bat I'll call for the pitch outside, etc.

A question for all the MOM users. What cameras do you use? I'm using the press box for batting. It really lets you see where pitches are in relation to the corners of the plate. Also, balls fouled straight back look awesome in this view. It makes me wish I had a 3D TV. I use broadcast for fielding. My dynasty that's linked in my signature is done using MOM.

I use broadcast for all of them. I am loving this year that you can create your own custom camera's with this mode. Along with choosing your uniforms. I have created my own camera for the view this years.

                            Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I tried MoM last night and was disappointed. First game of my franchise was Kershaw pitching against the Padres. Sliders were all at default and level was Veteran. What I saw did not look like Kershaw to me. In real baseball,, Kershaw throws his slider much more than his curveball, but in the game over six innings, he threw his slider just twice! He threw his curveball more frequently and so the reverse was true. But, that's not the only issue. He had more walks than strikeouts.

I exited out of that game and set the level to All-Star figuring that would give me a truer representation of Kershaw. This time against the Padres he walked the first batter. I then set User Pitch Control up to 8 along with Consistency and he walked the next batter. I exited out of that game and shut off my PS3.

Kershaw throws his fastball around 70% of the time, slider around 25%, and curveball around 6%. But, that was nowhere near what he was doing.

Now I could see one saying that first time around was just one of those bad starts, but then I played that game over again and it just got worse on a higher level.

                            Any thoughts or suggestions?
