Then why do 2K have the stripe on the Twins jersey's that has been there for two years? I see what you are saying but it doesn't really make any sense to me. Who is going to do anything about fixing a stripe on the leg to make it actually appear much more accurate? Sorry but I cannot see MLB doing anything about it or caring much. Nobody made the pants pink.

Re: uniform fixes
You will have to ask 2k on that one. However, this is beyond the point. What I do know is that Baseball does care about how their teams look, and that includes video games as well as all other merchandising. If they didn't care, they couldn't very well enforce their copywrite. As for the Twins example specifically: if the style guide does have the stripe missing (and I have not seen their sheet as the style guide is a trade secret type thing), then the most accurate thing to do is to leave the stripe off. You have to go by the rules whether you like them or not. The alternative is having no licensing...Then why do 2K have the stripe on the Twins jersey's that has been there for two years? Re: uniform fixes
There is an issue with the Phillies alternate blue batting helmets for the past few years now in the game. When the Phillies are on defense, Carlos Ruiz's batting helmet under his catchers mask is the normal red helmet. Should be blue on home day games.Comment

Re: uniform fixes
No, the most accurate thing is to look at the real world and go by what you see with your own eyes. What you just said makes zero sense. That is not accurate. That is inaccurate because there is information that is truthful out there that proves it is wrong.
If 2K has it then by all means there is some way to get it in. 2K is a far lesser game imo and it just sticks out when things like this and other details have been in that game for 2 years now that have not been in here in the past. 12 seems much much better in this regard though. These guys follow the rules. I think they follow the rules too much then because the Twins and other teams look ridiculous with their obviously flawed uniforms. I think it makes the team look worse and definitely should be fixed so as the teams look proper to their respective real life counterparts. SO we can agree to disagree I think.
Anyway, The Show is an amazing game but things like this have tended to stick out to me because most things are top notch this year. I mean, the last one I played was MLB 10 and I got sick of it pretty quickly because of animations, details, lighting, etc. I don't see why these things cannot be patched but I guess I don't really care that much. There is always next year.
Anybody know if SF has any problems btw?Last edited by Unit303; 03-14-2012, 08:34 PM.Comment

You might as well be talking to a wall, because I have been asking these same questions for 4 years. There is absolutely no reason why 2K has better depicted uniforms if they're supposed to use this all important style guide. I am a big a fan of The Show as anyone, but unfortunately there is a group of SCEA apologists who refuse to acknowledge any negative about the game.
Anything you hear about having to abide by an outdated style guide is a bold-faced lie. I don't care what the dev's said; it's an excuse. If there was any validity whatsoever to the claim, then we wouldn't see MLB2k with different, more accurate uniforms. Not unless the MLB has different style guides for SCEA and 2k.Comment

Re: uniform fixes
If it were the case that they didn't have to follow the Style Guide, why would SCEA make a game that masters just about everything else graphically. It's not like the developers sit around and say "You know what would piss people off? If we just flat out made mistakes on uniforms. Let's take the time to get details like scoreboards down just right, but it'll be funny to piss a bunch of posters off!!!" There is a Style Guide, there is information on it that teams themselves do not follow to a tee, and the best thing you personally can do is to e-mail a representative from that team and ask them to change it.Anything you hear about having to abide by an outdated style guide is a bold-faced lie. 2K gets away with more things and is allowed more "freedom" (i.e. editable contracts) by the MLB due to the "exclusive" license.
And stop with the blind leading the blind, because there is a lot of **** 2K gets wrong that this game gets right as well. And vise/versa.
Hell, they had names on the back of some home team uni's last year (which may have been patched, but still launched like that.)
It is all relative.
And as far as the patching of uniforms, not that it can't be done on a technical level, it is a matter of resources and priorities for said patches. Fix bugs and gameplay issues rather than a stripe here and here which will require programming as well is much more prudent IMO.
Just add it to a list, and hope for next year. My only aggravation is I try and read through these treads every single year to relay the information to the developers. Only problem it becomes a full time job because they NEVER STAY on topic, and turn into "wish list" threads and uniform requests. Thus making it harder to track the issues currently present.
Until that can be done at an efficient rate, don't get too upset. Police ourselves properly as a community and things can work out much more efficiently in the long run.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-16-2012, 08:34 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: uniform fixes
That made me think of the old baseball games where the number was blue instead of red. I remember the numbers on the Braves jerseys were blue too instead of red. It was like that for a number of years. I'm talking about old PS1 days. The Dodgers uni's look pretty good, but I think any hardcore Dodger fan has noticed that the red numbers on the front are too thin. For what ever reason, they made them too thin starting with MLB 11 The Show. In MLB 10 and back they were correct, and more thick.
I don't mean to complain but it's funny because when they finally added the stripe to the Dodgers away uni's, they decided to make the numbers on the front too thin. Maybe it's a hardware limitation or something.

See the red number? In the game it is not nearly that thick. But it used to be in MLB 10.Atlanta Braves
