Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
Yeah....I'm not really sure what to do. I have Perfect Timing and Superb or Wheelhouse contact, but I'm just hitting line outs, pop ups and ground outs.
And I have a good eye and I'm taking pitches and getting walks....it's just anything I happen to actually swing at is an out.Comment

I do have pitch speed down to 0. That would help.
I just hit a home run to center using contact swing. I've never done that before.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
Thanks so much for that!! I always thought that was just for bunting only. I usually don't have a problem hitting a fastball middle-away, but it is rediculously hard for me to pull a breaking/off-speed pitch with any success. Ill have to try this later tonight fo sho!!NBA: Thunder

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
Okay, this is getting really frustrating. I'm in the third inning of a game and have already struck out seven times, mainly because on zone hitting, I can't follow through on my swings for some reason. I don't wanna play if I can only do check swings. This wasn't a problem when I first got the game, but why is it happening now? Is there a glitch?
I had this same problem when i bought my new tv a few weeks ago. There was a setting called Digital Natural Motion, or something like that, in the tv's menu options. After turning that off everything was fixed.NBA: Thunder

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
Never thought id be somebody to come on here and complain but I cant hit worth a dime. I've played this series for several years and never had issues hitting. And its not like I strikeout a lot, its just that every single hit I get are all pop ups and just line shots right at players.
I have 3 games in a row where I struck out 4 times or less but I had a combine 7 hits and 0 runs. So I lowered my hitting difficulty from All-Star to Veteran and even still not making a difference. Never had issues in previous years, not sure why I cant hit at all. Glad to see its not just me though with this problem...
But I will simply try some tips left in this thread!Comment

I recently went to rookie... got shut out with 2 hits.
So what I did was go back to vet, and bump up my contact, power, and timing alot. Worked like a charm.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
It's the Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI). Turn it off in the hitting gameplay options.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
I turned it off, and its still there? We are talking about the yellow cloud lookin thing in ur strike zone when trying to get hits right? I just want to be able to swing and use the left analog stick to aim where i want to hit the ballComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - All Hitting Tips
Like many of you, I was struggling with hitting. I seemingly tried everything, but to no avail, could not figure out how to put runs on the board.
Sure, there would be some games where I would get 10+ hits, but they were mostly singles, very few extra base hits. If the computer went up more than a run, it was pretty much good night for me.
I've been a devout Show gamer since 09. And save for a brief period in 09 when I mashed by guessing a high fast ball every time, I have always struggled to hit.
Despite many calls from other gamers to stop using guess pitch, I always felt that I would be complete toast without it.
My first few games without using guess pitch were still rough. I was focusing in on a certain zone with the PCI and only trying to hit those pitches. And while you do see a lot of pitches, problem is, you are also giving up many hittable pitches by taking those strikes.
I decided to open things up a bit. I stride just before the pitcher releases the ball and only move the PCI after the pitcher has released the ball. gives me a enough time to determine if it's a ball or strike and if it's a definite ball, then I don't even tempt the PCI. While I can't turn on inside fastballs well, I am mashing just about everything else. And by being late on inside fastballs, I'm adding to the pitchers workload. Most of those at-bats result in a hit because they eventually will give me something to hit.
The other big thing that has helped me has been to use the power swing on any count until I have 2 strikes. I know a lot of people saw the risk/reward of using power is not worth it, but I have been dropping 3-5 bombs per game with the Mariners. I'm currently riding a 9 game winning streak I finally feel like I've figured out hitting.
So to summarize:
- Don't use guess pitch/location
- Keep the PCI in the middle of the zone until the pitcher has released the ball
- Use power swing in every count unless you have two strikes
- Enjoy mashingComment
