When will this be addressed? It has been deflecting off the pitcher like it does off the net in batting practice! Annoying!!

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher
For those of you who are both MLB The Show and American Idol fans I thought you would appreciate this little tidbit.
Based on this, I would say Scotty has been taking lessons from pitchers in The Show...apparently his bullpen has as well.
GARNER, N.C. (AP)
''American Idol'' champion Scotty McCreery didn't get the win while pitching for Garner High School in his latest outing, but he apparently came away unscathed after a scary moment on the mound.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that the country music sensation was pitching in the third inning against East Wake High School on Thursday when a one-hopper back to the mound hit McCreery in the throat.
McCreery retrieved the ball, threw out the batter and stayed in the game. Spokeswoman Beverly Keel of Universal Music Group in Nashville says McCreery wasn't injured.
McCreery pitched 4 1/3 innings, struck out six and allowed seven hits, including a home run. He left with a 2-1 lead, but East Wake rallied for a 3-2 victory.Last edited by chrishthomas; 04-24-2012, 01:11 PM.Comment

Wow, taking a comebacker to the throat can't be fun. Though i've crushed a few pitchers in this game with line drives and the fact that i have yet to see one leave injured, ever, is amazing.Comment

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher
Saw Edward Mujica (sp?) get hit on his arm with a soft grounder against the Mets yesterday (not a line drive) and the entire Marlins franchise practically ran over to him as if he was hit in the face and killed on a liner. As somebody else said, maybe if they can't address the pitcher's getting hit, address the injuries that should result from this. The only problem is I would probably lose my whole starting rotation/bullpen after a few weeks or so because of how often this happens.Comment

Javy Guerra got rocked in the chin last night by a Brian McCann liner. He shook it off and stayed in the game. It's one of the more amazing things I've seen.

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher
Up !
What bothers me a lot is not the ball bouncing off the pitcher.
It is the Superman/Chuck Norris/Spiderman's reaction of every pitcher on line drive or chopper near them to make the out... It happens for me at least twice a game.
I don't know what to tweak to avoid that. I have already tuned down the fielder reaction.
What have you done to avoid those gold-spidey-glovers ???Comment

This really pisses me off because I hit their pitcher SO many times, yet no injuries. Yet the first game of the season, they hit Felix and have him a concussion for two weeks. That's just crap. The CPU cheats >:/Mariners - Cubs: 2012 World Series

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher
It might help if you improve your approach to hitting. Easier said than done, I know. But I've spent countless hours in the cages on the game. And now I feel completely comfortable that I can punish mistakes. For all batters I usually take the first pitch. Lead off hitters always, maybe more than one. But once I get the timing of the fastball down, I look to pull. It makes me succeptible to change ups in early counts, but I live with it. Just have to anticipate the off-speed stuff. With 2 strikes, I just go with the pitch. The reason why you're hitting a lot back is probably because you lack an approach and you're just trying to get the ball in the batter's eye. I took that off as well as the hot/cold zone and my hitting has improved dramatically. I think the contact region is higher with it off as well. Just have to hit the cages! You've played the game enough to get movement speed of the eye through the zone. So it shouldn't take long to get used to.Comment

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher
I can't be the only one experiencing this so often. Every game, I seemed to be hitting the ball hard at the pitcher and having it deflect off him... so I decided to keep track over 50 games, how often if happened.
50 games. 63 deflections.
So that means that over 1 time per game, I'm rocketing the ball back and hitting the pitcher. How often do we see that a year while watching our real life teams? Once? Maybe twice?
And not only that, but in those 63 deflections, not one pitcher was injured or effected. Is there some sort of slider I can use to adjust this happening?
Same thing with the excessive amount of ground rule doubles.
A game that is considered to be as good as The Show 12 shouldn't have that kind of issues in my opinion.
Any words on if those two things have improved in The Show 13?Spending time with Jesus!

I'm having a ton of fun with the game, but still I gotta say it doesn't get some of the fundamental things right. I mean maybe it's just me doing something wrong, I didn't read through the whole thread, but I'm hitting the pitcher and then get thrown out by him every game more than once. It's getting really annoying now.

Ball Psysics 2.0 should fix the high bounces that resultated in a little bit too much ground rule doubles and I believe balls hitting the pitcher and getting thrown out is towned down as well."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment
