I remember reading from Ramone (I think that is the person that mentioned it) that they often do testing from people who don't play it and the resounding complaint is that MLB The Show was too hard to pick up. Perhaps this new found "easiness" is a result of that study.
Is it just me or does the game seem a bit easier this year?

Complete opposite for me, hitting wise. Last year I played on All Star and it was competitive and fun. This year I can't hit on All Star, so I'm playing hitting on Veteran, using timing as I have in the past.Comment

Me as Jays just beat Seattle 14-1. Hitting like crazy with the Jays on timingComment

I haven't played enough to gauge, but it seems like hitting is a little tougher this year (Timing, All-Star) and pitching (Classic, All-Star) a little easier.Currently Playing:

I'm hitting fewer doubles, the AI outfield seems to be playing smarter compared to last year. I was a little (and only a little mind you) annoyed in years past I could golf swing a ball into the stands or hit doubles almost at will. This year it needs to be a higher fastball or a flat curve, which is more in line with real life.
Pitching is definitely more challenging. I'm really enjoying having struggle with lower rated pitchers who have no idea where the ball's going to go. Or when a pitcher has a low clutch rating then all control goes right out the window.
Overall, the gameplay is better this year. I was disappointed to see that the franchise mode took a backseat, yet again. I wish they hadn't gotten so excited about sabermetric stats for the playing cards and just added more traditional ones like stolen bases (a big part of my playing strategy and team-building).Super XV: Crusaders

+1. I'm getting demolished at the plate but can pitch halfway decently. I'm in every game for the most part but I don't think I've broken 7 or 8 hits total for a game yet.
+1 on the "outfield seems small" comment, too. Maybe it's just reaction time?Comment

Yeah same here. Pitching is fun on All Star. Great challenge and never know what to expect regarding the results- I'm using classic pitching. But on AS I can't hit worth a damn.
And yeah I have field speed at 3, fielder reaction at 3, fielder arm strength at 3, and baserunner speed at 4. Seemed the CPU was getting to stuff way to fast and my guys were struggling to get doubles. This tweak worked for me at least.Last edited by JG1986; 03-30-2012, 08:28 AM.Comment

I don't think there's much to be gleaned in asking if the game "seems easier" when the game has custom difficulty levels. If something seems a little easy or a little hard, tweak the sliders like everyone else.
Also, at HOF batting and Legend pitching, you clearly find the game easier than most people to being with.Comment

Exact same here. I'm hitting better than ever but getting killed on the other side of the ball. Must be a Toronto thing. I'm losing games 10-9 8-6 stuff like thatWell for me, this is the best hitting I've done in the 3 years I've had a PS3 and been playing The Show. I have never had so much success, granted I've been playing in Toronto for the majority of my games being I'm using the Blue Jays so that might explain my hitting success. It may also explain how bad my pitching has been this year. I personally think it's because I'm too predictable for the A.I. and they take advantage and light me up, and also I'm playing in Toronto as I said, easy pickings for a HR.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush
