    Franchise Guide

Ok, I feel like Knight and I have answered many of the same questions lately about the workings of franchise mode and I wanted to try to consolidate the information the best I can. This is in no way perfect, and I am not an expert on ALL parts franchise. I began work on a franchise guide and I still have tons to add to it, but here is what I have now. Anything that you guys can think of that needs to be edited or added please list it.

This should be stickied, although it is missing some parts at the end. Looks like it was cut off, or when you pasted it, something didn't get copied.

            Excellent job so far.

Just one thing I think you should clarify, for the spring training workaround (to avoid rosters being messed up), 30 team control is not at all needed for the first workaround you have there:
A work around is to use 30 team control and the OSFM 25 man roster. Then after spring training add players back to the 40 man roster.
You simply need to remove players 26-40 from the 40 man roster before you even enter franchise mode. Once spring training ends, you can add your players back; for the other 29 teams, the CPU will rebuild the 40 man rosters itself.

I get what you were saying and stuff but I imagine some might misinterpret it and think that they they could only use this workaround if they have 30 team control.

Again, great job, I will definitely be reading the entire thing a few times, as I don't really know much about franchise mode myself, albeit the only mode I play.

Great job man! Thanks a million!
This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for as this year is the first year I'm tackling franchise mode.

I used to solely focus on Rtts the last 3 years.

Some good information here. Great work tabarnes! Quick question- will players turn down an arbitration offer to test free agency?

I skimmed thru and loved what I saw. If I think of anything that should be elaborated on I will mention it here.

From a 1st time MLB The Show player thank you very much! This is going to help me out a lot. This should be stickied!

I thought that the cpu didn't add the players last year and the franchise crashed? If not thats cool. I have alot more to add. I just started putting placeholders in. I gave Knight editing permissions as well, so hopefully over time it will have alot more to it.

If they are in the sixth year and beyond and they get a long term deal with someone else and you didn't offer them a long term deal, kiss them goodbye.

That I definitely wasn't aware of. When does this crash happen? I didn't have any crashes last year, but then again, I didn't get very deep into my franchise.

                        My mistake either way

Tip/workaround for scouting. Put scouting on manual, hire good scouts. Only players 18 and older will be in the draft pool, do not waste time scouting players younger than 18. On draft day the player card is available to look at and you can see the attributes of each player. What you can't see is potential. Scout players until potential is revealed and then move on to the next player.

Using this method you can maximize the number of players you scout prior to draft day.

I may have a misconception here, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Isn't another drawback of using 30 team control is that you do not receive in game updates for other games around the league? Since the CPU is waiting for you to play those?

If this is not the case, please let me know how to do it. I haven't used 30 team in about 2 years.
