I do the same thing. It may just be me, but I hit a TON of singles. Like, I've had 10-15 hit games recently where I'll hit a home-run, one double, and 10-12 singles. I very rarely lace one into the gap for a double it seems. I either get a hold of one for a home run or hit a semi-sharp grounder through the infield or shallow liner in front of an outfielder.

For instance, I know I had a game recently where I had something like 3 runs on 13 or 14 hits. I think I hit a solo homer with Heyward and the rest were singles. Then I followed that up with 9 or 10 hit game with one double and the rest singles. I'd have to go back and look at the boxscores to be exact.

Still, on timing hitting I get the best variation of scores. Some games I'll score 1-4 runs, others I'll get 5-8 and, on occasion, I'll score 8+.

I would love to see some video of someone hitting the ball successfully using the stick. I don't even see how this is possible. It was always completely impossible for me. But i'm an old man, maybe that's the reason...

I think timing is a little too easy so that's why I use zone hitting which mixes timing and zone which makes for the most realistic hitting experience IMO. I've always used zone hitting every since ken Griffey baseball. The analog stuff is a cool thought but it's just too much goin on for me.

It's pretty fun once you get the hang of it. You really have to concentrate though if you want to be successful. When I try, I usually can be successful at the plate.

I would like to use contact more often, but I find it touchy, too many check swings when I don't intend for them.

I use timing with regular swing and use the contact swing after two strikes and get good results ie: hits , more walks or lots of foul balls to up the pitch count on the pitcher, I never use the power swing and I do just fine.

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?

Timing hitting on hall of fame is pretty tough with the pitch speed kicked up a few notches. Pitchers will exploit your weaknesses as a hitter.

If you are chasing pitches they will throw pitches close to the same spot and see if you will chase. On HOF pitchers will throw any pitch in any count. Thinking since you got a 2-0 count your getting a fastball nope how about a slider low and away. Now obviously that's not the case for every 2-0 count but on All-star pitchers seem to pitch right by the book and on HOF the pitchers pitch based to what pitches they have higher confidence in and what are working for them.

The hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. For me timing only does not accurately represent that difficulty.

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?

I personally have always found analog hitting more realistic. I find that I actually have to anticipate more as far as pitch placement / speed than with any other mode. When using timing I feel like unless I crank the pitch speed up extremely high I can always get around on pitches just using my very good reaction time / button press speed.

With analog I feel like I have that realistic couple tenths of a second to decide on that swing all while making sure I "load up" with good timing. This becomes a huge factor when u have people that throw those 95mph fastballs and 69mph curves.

My thoughts and approach exactly. I really wish I could get the hang of analog but I'm way too slow. I also really hate the random batting indicator placement in timing. I feel like zone combines timing with more user input while still making ratings matter.

I also am a big believer in the contact swing. Best addition to the hitting interface since it was introduced last year.

I tried zone, and I'm really bad at holding the stick steady in the zone where I think the pitch is coming, so usually im just swinging in the middle and fouling off anything else. I definitely don't want to go back to guess pitch. lol

It's my first year using timing hitting, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. At first I was struggling, but I was new at it anyway. I'm currently on veteran hitting, and I've gotten solid hits and runs so far. I haven't been receiving many walks, maybe because I'm on veteran level. I moved it up to all-star difficulty to see how I hit and take more pitches. I've had guess pitch on for 07 & 09, but I'm glad I turned it off this year. The game is more fun as ever before, and I can't wait to start my season! (after freshman year of college is over. Haha.)

Maybe this is my problem. I use power swing all the time and noticed a lot of pop ups and fly outs. Didn't really see a lot of line drives or anything like that.
