Chris Sale and Jake Peavy both eat me alive. It's ridiculous.

I run into more issues with crappy starters than the top tier hurlers.

Example: tuned up verlander for 7 runs thru 5 1/3

Some scrub from Pittsburgh. 12 Ks and only 1 hit.

The above happens a lot to me.

Re: What below average pitcher killed you in a game

I actually have an interesting theory as to why this happens. When I first started playing the game I could not hit for nothing. I noticed on the forum that alot of people were lowering the pitch speed a few notches due to it being to hard to hit, and BAM!!!! What do you know? CC Sabathia? Raked on him. Roy Halladay? Raked on em. Verlander and king Felix? Raked on them. Which leads me to my theory. The best pitchers in the game are effective with theyre out pitches because of they're sensational late movement on they're out pitches. By essentially lowering the "pitch speed" (it is only an optical illusion that makes the way you view the pitch different) you are effectively reducing the best players in the game. After seeing the way a few of king felix sliders have performed, or Verlanders 2 seamer you start to pick up on how these picthes perform in the strike zone making they're break timing very predictable. Pitchers who are "average" or "below average" dont have as nast of movement on they're pitches making them harder to discern from the rest of they're asrenal (the exception to this rule being lirianos slider, although I have found he has aboslutely little to no control on this pitch anyways. IE dont swing unless its up in the zone you'll get more walks then you can handle). By cranking the pitching speed back up to default you are now playing this game how it is supposed to be played because now it is harder to see the different movements in each pitchers arsenal ( i am a hipocrit because I play on pitch speed 3. Im not trying to be a professional just have fun, and after all this is just a theory). I think by improving the way you see a pitch the dramatic movements on these pitches that the pitchers in questions are known for are less effective because you can see them a mile away. Just a theory of course

I had a series against the Whitesox using the Indians in franchise. Game 1 of ther series Danks was on the mound and i scored 6 runs in the 1st inning, and the manager pulled him in the 4th, i won 8 -2... but the next game i faced Humber and could not time any of his pitches, they were really slow fastballs and an even slower changeup. I whiffed or check swung on strikes the whole game.Unbelievable, he pitched a shut out.

IMHO a pitcher's confidence causes this. If you don't get to any pitcher by the 3rd or 4th inning, he becomes Greg Maddux on his best day, regardless of difficulty level. Your best chance at that point is to foul off a bunch of pitches and wear him out...easier said than done. I personally don't like this aspect, and wish it could be disabled completely. Lowering the CPU pitcher consistency slider makes it harder for the pitcher to fill his confidence bar and keep it there which in turn, gives you better odds.

Lol, Ricky Romero BELOW average. I think not. In fact, that statement is absurd. Romero won 15 games last year with the crap Blue Jays and posted a sub-3 ERA. He is a stud. Possible 20+ game winner. The future is VERY bright for this young man.

You guys claiming Ricky Romero isn't below average (which he isn't, he's VERY good) missed this gem. Cole Hamels, below average? c'mon..

Darren O'Day crushes me when he comes in for relief.

THIS. I've faced Luke Hochevar 5 times, with me playing as the Yankees. Lost 5 times. He owns my soul. The damn "confidence" ratings are a joke. After one good inning he painted with his curveball and change-up the rest of the game every time. Completely unhittable. Doesn't help that the damn physics make it impossible to get any line drive out of the infield. The few balls I actually hit hard all did the same thing where an infielder reaches up and and catches the ball (default or TNK sliders, no difference). That reminds me, for next year, maybe fix the line drive thing, SCEA.

I just played against the Phils, and I don't think I hit Vance Worley's curveball once.

But this is just another reason why I love this game, just like in real baseball - there are some great pitchers you can always seem to hit, and some bad ones that own you...

Zach Britton. Or the guy with the hitch on the O's. Whoever that is. I think it was Britton.

I second James McDonald of the Pirates. No clue why - I feel like I should be hitting everything he throws, but I never do. His change-up is just incredible. It is honestly the only one that fools me EVERY time. I can usually tell that it is going to drop or is coming in slower, but McDonald just gets me.

It's a speed difference. He has a mid-90s heater with 75-mph change. Anyone who can generate that kind of speed difference with same arm motion succeeds in real life.

                                Ricky BELOW average... riight.....

Anyways, Randy Wolf's 66MPH curve destroys me.

Also Tim Lincecum, Clayton Kershaw, Roy Halladay and Justin Verlander. I don't know what it is but those scrubs get me every time.
