Yea I don't expect much of anything. They will probably try and hoard top 1st round picks for several years.. then maybe if they all pan out they will make a run at something. Ahhh video games. We play trying to turn things around for a team as quickly and realistically as possible when in real life not much will change any time soon.

i dont see the Astros contending till MAYBE 2015 IRL..i do envision them modeling themselves after the Devil Rays and loading up on top-3 picks for a few years....fortunately we dont have that kind of patience in video-game land......or do we?

What seems like a good time to give Singleton a shot at the show? Could u put him in somewhere in the first season already or would that be too soon if you want to keep it realistic?

Well, from what I've seen...he's at least a year away. Especially if you use Scott's rosters. I'd say beginning of year 2 is when you give him the first look, with a more realistic call-up being at the end of year 2/beginning of year 3.

But it wouldn't be horribly unrealistic to call him up in September of the first season if the Astros are already way out of things anyways. Personally, I'd let him stay in AA/AAA for year one.

only way he sees the field with the Astros in 2012 is a September call-up if he's absolutely raking in AAA

the bolded part is gunna happen if most or all of year 1 is gunna be simmed.....there's no realistic chance of the Astros sniffing .500 with that joke of a team they put on the field...this is gunna sound so wrong but i want them to be the worst team in 2012 so they can have the top pick in 2013 again

Oh I know. Wanna know something really sad? My Astros are a 96 loss team with one game left, but there are 4 teams with worse records than me. I don't even have the worst record in my division, as the Cubbies have decided to collapse and be a half game worse than me with my last game against them. If I win against them, I could be looking at the 6th pick, with 96 losses...

I'm debating whether or not to tank the game...I could always send Milk Carton to the mound on a rehab start, that should guarantee a loss no?

I should've said that i played with the OSFM rosters and he looks like a fine young ballplayer already. I don't think I'm gonna give him a shot earlier then in september, just like you guys suggested, but it itches to bring him in before that time because the alternatives at first base are so weak now that Carlos Lee is gone.

are u really debating this man? of course u have to tank the game...difference between the 1st and 6th pick is enormous and certainly more important long-term than a lousy season finale...i'd pitch whoever was scheduled to pitch that day...just put up an *Astro-like* effort

trust me...we all agree with u..but the risk is bigger then the reward in year 1....it's just not worth it...u dont want to take the chance of him chitting on his face if he comes up too soon then having to constantly shuttle him up and down....bite the bullet until September...u'll be thankful u did in the long-term...u can get by with Wallace in 2012

First of all, I'm at least getting the 4th pick, because the 107 loss Mariners, 101 loss Twins, and the Cubs have 97 losses (and I own the tiebreaker with them having won more than I lost to them) are locked into 1-3. I probably won't get the 4th pick though, as the 96 loss Phillies are playing Washington, who is hanging by a thread in the wildcard race. So I at the minimum get the 5th pick. Actually, now that I look at it...I'm guaranteed the 5th pick no matter what I do. So I'm playing to win that SOB! For pride, and for CJ's potential 20th jack.

AND guess who is scheduled? Milk Carton...the CPU reinserted him into the rotation because I hit "Auto Utilize" It's gonna be him versus Jeff Samardzija.

Also, the Braves and Giants are tied for WC1 and WC2. So they're playing a play-in game to decided who's who? Then they'll play again? Wonky Show logic at its best.|

EDIT: Realized they probably don't have 2 WCs in this game, that's the one thing 2K did have.
