Re: Da Astros
--RHP Lucas Harrell described his outing as "awful" as he gave up three hits and a walk to his first four batters and walked four overall. However, it was still good enough to keep the Astros in the game as he left with a 3-2 deficit that turned into a 5-3 win. Harrell went six innings and allowed three runs overall.--OF Justin Maxwell continued one of the oddest trends of the Astros' season when he hit a 433-foot home run in the first inning off Reds RHP Homer Bailey. No not just his continued pummeling of baseballs but the timing as Maxwell has eight of his 14 home runs in games started by RHP Lucas Harrell.
The Tri-City ValleyCats and Houston Astros announced today that the two have extended their Player Development Contract (PDC). The two-year extension continues the affiliation between the Astros and ValleyCats through the 2014 season."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

The Astros have released Francisco Cordero, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart (on Twitter).
Houston acquired Cordero as part of a 10-player trade with the Blue Jays that also netted them Ben Francisco and five minor leaguers. Cordero was installed as Houston's new closer, but struggled mightily in five innings for the 'Stros. The 37-year-old allowed 11 runs on 13 hits before hitting the 15-day disabled list. He hasn't appeared in a game since Aug. 1.
Cordero signed a one-year deal worth $4.5MM late in January to serve as the setup man for new Blue Jays closer Sergio Santos. Neither Santos nor Cordero wound up latching onto the closer role in Toronto, however, as Casey Janssen emerged as the team's ninth inning stopper following Santos' injury problems and Cordero's ineffectiveness. Cordero endured far and away the worst season of his career in 2012, pitching to a 7.55 ERA in 39 1/3 innings thanks to a whopping nine homers allowed.Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: Da Astros
maybe Cordero can string together a few good outings and somehow sucker a desperate bullpen-needy team to take a chance on him....tonight was step 1....ladies and gentlemen, we are officially on the CoCo Cordero Watch!
P.S. Ben Francisco singling in his pinch-hitting appearance doesn't hurt either!
