Signing a player to a minor league contract

It seems in franchise that sometimes when signing free agents, the free agent automatically is placed on the MLB team and the 40 man roster.

For example, in my Yankees franchise, I'm halfway through April and I signed Jorge Soler (I'm using OSFM rosters) and I signed him to a 3 year deal at 1.5 million per year and he was placed on the MLB squad and 40 man roster. I don't want him on either, I want him to develop in the minors for a while. I don't want to expose him to waivers by removing him from the 40 man roster and I don't want to use on of his options.

Any insight? Its weird because the A's just signed a bunch of free agents including Roy Oswalt and a couple top relievers from the remaining FA pool and they are in AAA and not on the 40 man,

Re: Signing a player to a minor league contract

I just checked and I thought that was the case and I found that I had 39 guys on the 40 man roster. I thought that if I added a player to fill the roster then that would fix the problem so I signed him again while I had a 40 man roster and it still added him. I tried simming to the next day and I was told I had 26 players on the MLB team and 41 on the 40 man roster.

          No fix really.
The game doesn't have minor league contracts(yet....hoping!)...so any signing is an MLB contract and you have to make a roster move.(two actually sometimes...the MLB move and the 40 man roster move if both are not one and the same)
