With this I completely agree. How many people even wanted a schedule patch in the first place? My guess is practically no one. Heck I probably would have never even noticed that the handful of re-scheduled games weren't right in The Show anyway.

And it's pretty obvious now that the adjustment in the schedule on both patches is what is wreaking havoc. A simple statement of "hey, the schedules are different now, we recommend restarting any career modes" would have gone a long way, I think.
It'd be really nice too - and this isn't MLB specific - if they could do patches like NHL does tuners. You could select and choose which patch you want. Don't like 1.16? Go back to 1.06. -

The MLB series is one of my favorites. And I have the utmost respect for the developers. They're far from lazy and they obviously care about the product they put out (of course, this goes for EA and 2K as well). Year in and year out they produce one of - if not the - best sports games on the market.
But this patch fiasco is simply unacceptable. These patches have broken the game for a significant number of users. If there's too many variables to accurately test the patch and make sure that it will work across all variables then don't release the patch. Simple as that. You can't break the game for X% of the buyers and then say "sorry, it was too hard to make it work for everyone. Better luck next time."

Anyway, this whole thing aggravates me, and I've been one of the lucky ones (knock on wood) who hasn't had any problems.
Ummmm....how would they know this until the patch is released?

I know they had no way of knowing all this stuff would happen, but a disclaimer would have gone a long way. Instead of assuming it was safe (with pre-existing files), they should have assumed it wasn't.Last edited by Bobhead; 04-29-2012, 12:59 PM.Comment

My franchise (A's 2012, Custom Roster based of OD OSFM) was in mid June when I DL'ed the patch...
Played a game, simmed my usual half dozen until the starter I play as was probable again, saved my usual two (main and backup) and walked away...
Came to the thread and saw that many were experiencing freezes (I had to restart after the first patch)...
I made a third clone franchise save and ran a season sim...
Everything looks fine...all teams played 162, etc...
I've invested too much time up to this point to restart, so I'll just keep up with this one unless / until I see a problem...
So far, so good...
I'm not sure what benefit this patch has for my single player / franchise / versus CPU / playing style...
It would be cool if these companies released detailed patch notes beforehand and gave us the option to decline patches that don't affect the way us offline guys often choose to do...
All that being said:
"I Love This Game"!

Honestly with common sense. If you make a patch that affects franchise and RTTS mode, isn't it logically possible that the patch will affect franchise and RTTS files?
I know they had no way of knowing all this stuff would happen, but a disclaimer would have gone a long way. Instead of assuming it was safe, they should have assumed it wasn't.
How would they know if it did or not?
Like I said....WE as a community are not even getting the same results from the patch.
I know it sounds like I'm "defending" SCEA. ....but this is for games and game companies in general that I'm speaking about. It's just common sense that testing this as much as everyone would like is not a possibility in regards to saved games.
I can't put the onus on the user either....as if you don't patch...you can't use the online services....so it's certainly a bad situation unless you have two PS3's and use them for different parts of the game(offline/online)

It is impossible for them to test the patch in regards to OUR saved games.Comment

Looking at problem saves was easier than trying to find it on guys who weren't having them the first time.

Following up on my earlier post, my RTTS is fine too. I loaded it up on my Vita, uploaded to the Cloud, played a few games on my PS3. I moved it back over to the Vita and played a couple more games, no issues whatsoever. I'm starting think I have a magic copy? LOL
Where exactly are you guys seeing freezes in RTTS?

I will say this - I'm surprised Sony (not necessarily SCEA SD because they may not have had control over it) let a patch go on a Saturday. that seems to just ask for trouble when things go wrong, because it's not likely that there would be any official response on it until Monday (not fair to ask for that on a Sunday, IMO). So right now you've got a bunch of people stewing over it for at least 2 days.Last edited by bcruise; 04-29-2012, 01:30 PM.Comment

Same here. I wasn't able to cause freezes in any of my files from the last patch, let alone this one. The only real freeze I've experienced with this year's game was during postgame loading after an online league game (fortunately it had already reported the result). And it only happened one time out of 11 games now.

I think nomo said he read on shownation that it was an emergency patch in the queue.

Re: MLB 12 The Show Game Update 1.16 Arrives, Details Included - Post Your Impression
For the first time since initially purchasing a PS3 three years ago, I am regularly disconnecting from the internet before inserting a game disc.
Of all the publishing houses I thought I might have to do this for, SCEA SD would have been dead last on my list.
I am so freaked out about having issues after already investing hundreds of hours since March 6 that, even though I haven't had any problems so far, I'm not taking anybody's word for anything on patches. I had DL'd 1.06 before coming here and reading the horror stories. I've been lucky so far. But I'm passing on 1.16.
Sad place to be. There's a morality lesson in here somewhere about being good to go out of the box (which The Show has been for the most part in the past). The industry has to get away from the "hell, we'll just patch it later" attitude regarding new releases. I'm not talking about the patching option itself (I think we are all thankful it is there with this gen), I'm talking about using it as a crutch as part of the game plan ahead of time.
If this can happen to Sony SD, ordinarily one of the best, it can happen anywhere.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show Game Update 1.16 Arrives, Details Included - Post Your Impression
Here's a fix for those who are having the crazy # of loses and those teams make wild card in playoffs even though with all the loses they finish last. ( not an ideal fix, but I'll take it).
So in my chise (knights opening day rosters, 30 team control) the year is 2014, sept 1. Braves and a's were in 2nd and 3rd in their division, after update they both had an extra like 70 loses or so and no matter what stay in last and get wild card anyway, even though their wins still aren't better than actual wild card teams.
What I did was deleted the update. Load my franchise again, and everythings normal, minus all 1st and 2nd update fixes. Anyway I simmed to the playoffs since I only had a month left, saved with correct wild card teams and standings /wins -losses records and then saved a new file.
I re downloaded the update, started my new chise save in the playoffs and everything is now how its suppose to be + updates fixes.
So if your willing to do this it works and will let you continue your franchise with update, but I can see why this won't cut It for a lot of users on here that don't like randomness or simming.
But again this will fix the issue for those who are post allstar break with the crazy losses records, if they are willing to take the sacrifice.. or just wait it out til scea responds with a new update or answer. Hope this helps some and for others I feel your pain.Comment

Yeah, this patch pretty much sucks. I have 7 RTTS players going on and I bought 20$ worth of RTTS points between 2 of them and EVERY LAST ONE is screwed up.Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment
