Is it possible to put a position player in to pitch?
After the Baltimore-BoSox game I was wondering if there's a way to put a position player in to pitchPhil 3:14

I believe you can only do this by pinch hitting for the pitcher, don't quote me on that though. -

Negative, once you use up your pitchers, you are left with the last one standingComment

All y'all guys are wrong. You can bring in a position player to pitch without using him as a pinch hitter first. The way to do it though would be to do a defensive switch. I do it all the time, like Whitey Herzog.
I will bring a righty to face the righty, get him out, then switch him with an outfielder, (the outfielder could pitch then), bring in the lefty, get him out, then bring the righty in from the outfield and defensive sub the lefty who is now in the outfield.Comment

Just have to reply because this is one of my huge internet pet peeves. If you CAN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION -- why do you?
Syd is absolutely correct.
EDIT: Even worse, when you have the absolutely wrong answer -- (Karl) why give out information to mislead others? It's not Fox News. LOL.Last edited by pokerplaya; 05-09-2012, 12:19 AM.I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

Wonderful strategy but is that NL only??? I don't know how I'd do that being an AL team with a DHAll y'all guys are wrong. I see what you guys are saying now. The game doesn't let you negate the DH or select the pitcher for defensive sub in the AL. So no, you cannot use a position player as a pitcher in AL games.
I never play AL games, I didn't know.Comment
