I recently started having these check swing issues myself. I found this thread helpful. At least in the area of piece of mind in wondering if it was something i was doing, a controller malfunction, or a game glitch. thought i'd up it for anyone else who may be running into this issues.

I never use the stick when batting, only the X button every time and Ive had the same issue on every pitch in the repertoire.
I mentioned this last year and I was told it was my fault because I wasnt pressing the button long enough and thats why it checked and didnt swing or was pressing it too long and thats why it swung and didnt check. Or my guy's PD or PV was too low, even though they were both at 99.

All of that above ^^^ is BS!

Ive played this game long enough to know there is something wrong in this area, either in the game, in the controller or in the timing between PS3 & TV.

Something is not right.

I've never had a problem checking my swing in this game. It feels very natural to me, but I don't use the analog stick.

think that happens to me on the vita as well. sometimes on balls, sometimes on strikes.

This problem is back in 13. I'm using zone hitting and wondering if anyone has any advice? The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the LS. Is it caused by accidentally clicking the stick while moving it trying to locate the pitch?

It has become beyond frustrating when I move the cursor to right spot on the ball, press square for power swing and watch my guy check swing. I remember in a previous version you could not even check swing with a power swing

I use TIMING only, so no stick is involved..... still the same issues in '13

I use classic + zone and the same thing. Pitch right down the middle and I will swing halfway for a check swing. Either I get no contact and get a called strike or I swing enough to make weak contact with the ball for an easy popup. This is driving me insane. I am pressing the button so hard to prevent me from accidentally letting go too early I am forming a callous on my thumb. Doesn't help. I check swing even when I know I fully pressed the button using 40 lbs of force.

I think it's a cheesy way for the devs to handicap people with perfect eye and timing. Sort of an uncontrollable factor.

I'm having the reverse problem than what I'm reading here. I can't get the game to check swing consistently on normal or contact swing as I could last year. This helped me a lot in getting deeper into pitch counts,and along with the meat pitch bug and the fact I can't cue up a steal or hit & run on auto base running this game may get shelved until some patches come about.
Maybe something got reversed in the code or something. I've loved this game forever but I can't help but feel if it ain't broke don't fix it

There will be times when I know I'm going full swing, pressing whatever with all my might, just to watch my batter check swing. I just played a game that I trailed most of with no check swing issues. Top of the ninth inning, I get things going just to have the final two outs come on POWER check swings pop ups, in counts where I was swinging regardless with no intent of a check swing.
