This is going to be a RANT... So, if you don't wanna read it just change the channel...

These are things that I'm beginning to HATE about the game... I know its "realistic" and the game of Baseball is a frustrating one... But this **** is out of control...

- Default, All Star...

Point Blank... The game cheats...

- Errors at the PERFECT time for the CPU... Routine grounders routinely ****ed up and the absolute worst possible time... Happens at least twice a game...

- Missplayed balls... Bobbled Balls... Terrible LOOOOOOONG animations at the most inopportune time (dribbles up the 3rd base line fielded by pitchers anyone?)... Fielding a grounder and then running 10 feet into the wall before you can throw it in?...

- CPU Hitters have EAGLE EYES and literally not swinging at anything close... down 0-2, 1-2 in the count? Doesn't matter, the CPU doesn't swing at anything... I understand that MLB Players generally have good patience, but the pitches these guys take is simply ridiculous...

- 15 pitch at bats anyone? yeah those are fun... Happens about every other inning regardless of the batter or the pitcher... I feel this is the games way of getting your Pitcher tired quickly...

- Have you ever pitched your *** off, worked the strike zone high, low, in and out just to get rocked in an inning? Then when you say **** IT and stop caring and throw Fastballs right down the middle and start getting guys out? How much freaking sense does that make?

- When your batting, you MIGHT get 1 quality pitch in the strike zone...

That's all for now... Feel free to flame me and tell me how great this game is... I will agree, its fun, but these above things PISS ME OFF!!! and they happen EVERY SINGLE GAME!!!

Yeah I know what you mean.. Was just leading 5-0 in the 7th and it seemed like the CPU just turned a switch and BAM, down 7-5.

I wouldve gotten out of the 7th if a routine grounder to 2nd didn't go 5 feet over Hosmers head.

Frustrating, but who knows..

Some things I agree with you like the long animations. I don't see a lot of errors though. I don't see pitchers fielding a lot of balls down the 3rd base line either. I get the cpu to swing at pitches out of the zone, doesn't happen all the time, but it happens. 15 pitch at bats, thats an easy one, just turn down the fouls balls slider. I see 2 maybe 3 at bats a game with 8-10 pitches. As far as having them hit everything in an inning sometimes, it happens, nothing you can do about it. I see what your saying though, had it happen to me a couple of times.

Some of those things are real annoying.

Especially when your fielder gets the ball, then he ends up running right into the wall(and you get that 5 second push off the wall animation) despite having more than enough time before then to turn and throw the ball, and the runners basically get an extra base because of that useless/time wasting animation.


And at times, it sucks how the CPU seems to hit in streaks ALOT. Giving up 1-2 runs in a random inning are ok, but it seems like whenever the CPU scores against me, it's cause they get 5-6 straight hits and 3 or so runs off it.

Those 15 pitch at bats can be fixed if you lower foul frequency, but even doing that, it still doesn't really get rid of these long at bats. You can have a 10 pitch walk cause the CPU fouls off 4-5 pitches and you can't throw a ball cause it'll be ball 4.

I agree with the point about the AI batter just fouling off pitches at will, batting like it's entitled to a hit and so on, but I can think of more times where I've got a ground ball to turn a double play and escaped a jam than I can where there has been a "convenient" error, etc. I definitely feel that the FIFA series is much worse for this kind of thing.

Could be an issue tied to level:

Rookie: CPU AI is pretty neutral

Veteran: CPU AI is balanced

All Star: CPU AI starts showing it's "smarts", esp. with regard to "third time through the lineup" / not swinging at junk / etc.

HOF: CPU AI has a pretty good idea of what your throwing and where, as well as how to best attack your individual batters

Legend: Pretty darn "psychic", IMHO...

The USER controlled / influenced gameplay for this title doesn't change a lot from level to level, but the "smarts" of the AI increase exponentially, from level to level...

I used to play on AS, but this year have settled on Veteran, because it's the only level where they swing at the (rare to occasional) junk and make "mistake" pitches, etc...

There's little to no "frustration" on the lowest two levels this year...

Well, that's my experience, anyway...

...I agree, try playing the game on a lower level of difficulty, it works for me this year on veteran hitting (Zone) and All Star Pitching (Button)

I must say, I don't really like to complaint about this game, ever!...but!!... I'm taking a shot here and say that it really gets to me when you swing at a pitch early, looking to pull, and the ball flies to the opposite field....

I wouldn't call it cheating, but there are some head-scratchers in this game. Going off my RTTS pitcher. There have been games where I was lights out 7 innings, get up 0-2 on some guy, throw a 98mph running fastball 6 inches in off the plate and somehow it gets turned on for a homer.

Then there are "key" situations where otherwise solid defenders seem to take their sweet time to get to a ball, flat drop it or throw it away. In my case, it probably didn't help that my corner outfielders in Comerica Park were Carlos Lee and Andy Dirks in RTTS. A defense with Carlos Lee, Andy Dirks, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and Kelly Johnson probably won't be a vacuum out there.

I don't mind all those things, because I do want it to be difficult to pitch, so that's okay. The big one for me is actually CPU defense, both in franchise mode and RTTS hitting. No matter what my sliders are (and they've been all the way left for CPU defense for a while), CPU defenders seem to cover so much ground and react perfectly to everything. That is very frustrating, more frustrating that the slider doesn't seem to make a difference than the actual plays happening.

I feel your pain. Out of the last ten games I've played, 7 have went to extra innings. The last one was particularly painful. I was playing the Indians with my diamond dynasty team. Up by 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th, I put my closer in because I am so sick of these games lasting so long. The Indians hit everything I pitched, and my closer is no slouch by any stretch. They score two but I get them to two outs with one man on for Grady Sizemore. I get an 0-2 count on him and start throwing him junk and he fouls off three pitches that I couldn't believe he could touch. Then I throw a 97 mph fastball right on the lower outside corner. I thought it was perfect,but he promptly pulls it to right field high off the foul pole. This game went 14 innings, as I kept making perfect timing swings on great pitches, but getting outs on nearly all of them.

So here comes the bottom of the 14th, they get a leadoff single and bunt the man over to second. The next batter hits the ball directly to my pitcher, and the man on 2nd RUNS TOWARD THIRD! I'm thinking I've got him dead to rights as I throw to third immediately, but the throw is as casual as I've ever seen, and the guy makes it to third STANDING UP! They use the squeeze play and finally put me out of my misery.

I don't know why I ever tell myself that I'll play a quick game before bed or something, but it rarely ever is. I really don't get it. Is there some slider I can change to make this extra innings madness stop? I'd rather get stomped every game than have to deal with this nearly every game.
