I don't know what to say. Give it some time. I've been playing the show since 06 and hav never really felt that the CPU cheats. There are some frustrating moments but, like you said, that is baseball. When things go awry, I try to make adjustments. Sometimes I win and sometimes I loose. My advice s to keep playing and you will see things tend to even out. I alo play on default all star.

Re: This game CHEATS...
Could be an issue tied to level:
Rookie: CPU AI is pretty neutral
Veteran: CPU AI is balanced
All Star: CPU AI starts showing it's "smarts", esp. with regard to "third time through the lineup" / not swinging at junk / etc.
HOF: CPU AI has a pretty good idea of what your throwing and where, as well as how to best attack your individual batters
Legend: Pretty darn "psychic", IMHO...
The USER controlled / influenced gameplay for this title doesn't change a lot from level to level, but the "smarts" of the AI increase exponentially, from level to level...
I used to play on AS, but this year have settled on Veteran, because it's the only level where they swing at the (rare to occasional) junk and make "mistake" pitches, etc...
There's little to no "frustration" on the lowest two levels this year...
Well, that's my experience, anyway...Last edited by Hannah000; 05-26-2012, 05:46 PM.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
Does playing on veteran really make the game better? I have always played at least on all-star because I just had the feeling on anything lower that the game would become weighted far more to the user than the CPU like it is on higher levels.
I have seen many errors happen at the worst times. I have had teams comeback out of nowhere when I have been cruising a long in a game.
All these things happen in real baseball but it just seems like they happen more in this game.
The only time I notice a true real game is when the CPU is winning and I have to chip away over the course of a game.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
@hustlinowl - thanks for the link for the tips. I'll check those out.
@richie12 - I agree. I know I'm not the greatest, however, these situations and issues I listed don't really seem to be my own skill level thats causing them... the "convenient" errors/animations for sure have nothing to do with my skill level.
@Bobhead - your right lol. I could just drop the game down to Veteran and play that way, but I figured since All Star was in the middle of the 5 difficulty settings that it would be the most "fair" game... No real advantage for me or the cpu based simply on the difficulty level. I could be wrong lol
Thanks for all the responses guys. Like I posted in my 1st line, this was a RANT. I know the game is fantastic and very, VERY good. These are just a few of the things that bug me on a game to game basis.
Your all probably right though, I could just bump down to Veteran or adjust some sliders and eliminate some of those issues.Comment

Read the description in game regarding levels...
Paraphrase:
Something like "less likely to adjust to previous pitching patterns" BELOW All Star (Vet, Rookie)...
I could not pitch past the second time through the lineup or into the 5th to save my life on All Star (as I did in previous years)...
I got over my "Level Prejudice" went to Vet and am thrilled...
Best Part (One):
If I mix speed and location, I can get them to swing at junk
Best Part (Two):
I have as many "come from behind" WINS as losses...
Best Part (Three):
I've yet to see the CPU score and identical amount of runs in the half inning directly following a scoring burst from me...and I'm in August of 2013 with my A's franchise...
Last Part (Last):
VETERAN:
LOVES IT!

Re: This game CHEATS...
I forgot to mention my two favorite CPU screw jobs, one in RTTS and one in franchise. In RTTS I had just finished 8 shutout innings and went back out for the 9th in a 2-0 game. Gave up a single, got a flyout. With 1 out, the CPU did a hit and run and smoked a ground ball right through the opening on the left side. It should have been 1st and 3rd, but my LF moving to his left to field the ball got caught in some weird little animation and the runner from 1st scored on a single. I was baffled.
In my Cubs franchise, I had been pitching in the 9th in a tie game just trying to blank the White Sox in interleague and get to extras. I got two groundball outs in a few pitches, bringing Brent Morel up. Now Brent Morel isn't exactly the most powerful guy. First pitch was completely within the strikezone, called a ball. Second pitch was right on the edge, called a ball. Third pitch was taken for a strike. Fourth pitch was fouled off. Fifth, sixth, seventh and eight pitches were fouled off. Ninth pitch was 100% inside the strike zone on the outside corner and called a ball, again. He fouled off three more pitches and on the 13th pitch, I said enough of this and just went fastball right down the middle, which he crushed for a walkoff homer. I was furious, 13 pitches, none of which were outside of the zone and yet I got to a 3 ball count and was forced to groove one.
If there was a "have words with umpire" button, I would have been hitting it.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
I absolutely hate when it feels like the Ump is not giving you any calls and gives all the calls to the CPU.
I see some pretty bad ones the more I play... I saw the CPU get a Called strike on an outside pitch where the ball marker wasn't even touching the Strike Zone, I mean literally you could have fir another 1/2 of a marker in there, thats how far outside it was... But he got the call
Thats part of what drives me crazy about this game, but its also exactly what makes it so amazing... I'm sure pitchers and batters feel like this on a daily basis in the MLB.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
Biggest problem for me in 2K My player mode was that your team shot like 30% when you were on the floor(and maybe 20% when you passed them the ball).
On the show, there's more problems other than lack of run support(if you're a SP)Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
I'm too lazy to quote anyone, but...
- In real life, approximately 45% of all batted balls are foul, so while I agree the foul balls need to be slightly toned down at default, I think guys are exaggerating the issue quite a bit.
- I didn't play NBA 2k11, but NBA 2k12 pissed me the heck off. They should have just called it NBA Interception. Or maybe NBA Extra-Sensory-Perception Network. I owned that game for a total of 2 weeks.
- I haven't noticed any lack of run support in RTTS. I'm not a pitcher but technically that shouldn't change anything. If you are watching your teammates at-bats, keep in mind your sliders affect them. If you are simming them, then maybe your team just sucks? Welcome to the minor leagues.
- I too have gotten some really bad calls from umpires, but I've gotten the benefit of them also. The other day I had the bases loaded, and was frozen by a fastball about mid-level and on the outer third of the plate. The entire marker was clearly in the zone, and not even touching the border, but it was called a ball. Next pitch was ball 4.
The bad is always more memorable than the good, but if you really pay attention, you'll pick up on a few gifts.Comment

From what I heard, it was 20% of batted balls were fouls.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
The numerical average is about 20 foul balls per team, per game.. That may be what you are thinking of.
27% of all strikes are fouls.
48% of all batted balls are fouls.

Where did you find that? It matches what I found but it always takes me forever to track down foul ball information, and I'd imagine your source is more efficient than mine.Comment

Re: This game CHEATS...
Have to agree with everything the OP stated. Could add that just about every team I play in franchise has a gold glove player at every position. Especially the pitcher. I don't know how many times I hit a hard ground ball up the middle and the pitcher stabs it, or it hits him and bounces perfectly to the third baseman for an easy out.
Not a rant or a complaint. Just my 2 cents.Comment
