Re: The Official Draft Discussion Thread
Really liking what I've seen from this thread so far. It has really helped me considering I'm not the best at properly progressing players. That being said, in my Pirates Franchise, with the 6th pick in the 2012 first year player draft I took:
Manuel Alaniz - 21 year old 2B, D overall F Con F Power D field D Speed A Pot
With my 2nd round pick I took:
Randal Lawler - 19 year old 3B, D overall F con F power D field F speed A Pot
These two guys are key for my future as I may move Lawler to 1st since I already have Castellanos whom I acquired from a trade. I plan on moving Pedro Alvarez (not sure what I want for him yet) and Neil Walker was part of the Castellanos trade. I don't exactly know how to approach them as far as progressing them goes, training assignments, single double or triple A, at bats, stats to expect, etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to properly progress them. Everything I have read in this thread so far shows that you guys know what you're talking about, and I was hoping I could possibly get some expert advice?Comment

Re: The Official Draft Discussion Thread
The thing with Trout, Harper, and Stanton is that they were made too good in the game to begin with. The amount of points gained per year depends on age, current OVR, and potential. Bryce Harper is 19 years old and already a B overall. So, with his A potential, he has about 12 years to become an A overall. It's going to seem like he's not even progressing. The same with Trout and Stanton. This is one flaw in player progression that bothers me. Hopefully it can be fixed for next year.I know this is a draft topic. Was wondering though, with Royals plan for new draftees , would it work with young phenoms like Trout, Harper, and Stanton? I know Stanton is already proven, but how about the other 2? I know in my franchise, I had Trout starting the 2012 season in the show, but demoted after 2 weeks due to a bad showing and he's still not hacking in AAA.
Also I saw where there was talking about training individuals in the minors. When running a team, do I need to set training for each club ( ie bugs, AAA, AA, A )? If so, how do I train my A guys?
Thanks guys for any help.Comment

Re: The Official Draft Discussion Thread
Unfortunately, yes. Be sure to make wise choices when signing free agents!
I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Actually, this isn't right. What this is is the game's way counteracting the problem of too many A potential players in the draft from last year. There aren't enough players to fill the draft.

Hi all,
I'm planning on starting a new Franchise once Scott's rosters w/ draft picks come out, and I was planning on publishing development plans for my prospects. Even though this is the draft discussion thread, we've been talking about developing prospects, too. So here's what I was thinking:
iamthepro, would you want to change this thread to the "Prospects Thread?" It's a much more general term that would allow much more discussion.

Re: The Official Draft Discussion Thread
If you don't care about realism, none really. As long as he gets a lot of At Bats and you make sure he doesn't go on a cold streak.Comment

That's what I was thinking. I've never had a hall of famed, so an 18 yo that can play like him could be my 1st!Comment

Do NOT let him get on a cold streak. I would put him at AAA for 300 ABs or so.
