I only really edit my Indians but only when i believe they are too low or too high. Brantley for example i upped his contact recently because he is having a decent year with the tick, downgraded some of the starters. Biggest edits i make are on the fielding attributes, like Jack Hannahan who i upped his fielding from a D to a A because i believe Jack is a top glovesman. I dont consider it cheating.

Yeah I posted this somewhere else about RA Dickey. I had to change his ratings around. I mean if you look at his ratings, they do not reflect what he is doing in real life. I mean its not so much that because he is dominant in real life that I want him to be dominant in the Show, its the fact that you can't control his knuckleball at all with the ratings OSFM v3 or whatever gave him unless you place the marker in the middle of the strike zone and it flutters wherever. I changed his velocity, break/movement, K/BB ratio to make it feel more like RA Dickey was pitching and not some minor leaguer who can't find the strike zone.Comment

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
I think I'm going to have to bump up Mike Trout's #s. He is way to low in the game and I looked at the ratings now and when the first rosters came out and he hasn't been touched yet. When I play Trout can't buy a hit and that might have been true last year but he is much better now. The only person I see that they edited for sure is Ernesto Frieri. Also Trumbo needs a boost also. Any news of when SCEA is going to put out updated ratings?Last edited by mcseven; 06-20-2012, 08:33 AM.Comment

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
I don't really know that altering his stats is justifiable. Before this season where he is pitching his socks off he was rather mediocre. Especially with control. He has never walked less than 2 batters / 9 in a season and 2 season over 4 walks per 9 and one over 5 walks per nine. His strike outs per 9 innings this season is nearly double that of any other season in his career. Pretty much he is pitching the season of his life currently.Yeah I posted this somewhere else about RA Dickey. I had to change his ratings around. I mean I'm not saying you can't, because I don't really care what other people do in their franchises lol.. I'm just saying I personally wouldn't edit him based on this one season of work he is putting together. Then again I don't edit any of my players so maybe my opinion doesn't matter anyway lol.Comment

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
There is a new updated online roster every week or so. However, the updated roster, like the default roster, will never accurately depict all the players. I just about stopped trying to duplicate what is happening in real baseball and I'm having more fun!I think I'm going to have to bump up Mike Trout's #s. Your opinion is definitely valid, I just feel differently. It may have to do more with my sliders, playing on AS, rather than Dickey's ratings than anything. If I was playing on a lower difficulty level (nothing wrong with that, just sayin), I probably would not have to alter his ratings. Its just with they way my sliders are set up on AS, I averaged a walk an inning with him. I'm up for a challenge, and playing on AS is definitely a challenge for me. However, Dickey was just a pain in the arse to play with. I would rack up 6 walks with him every game; not simuation stats. It was so frustrating. All of my other pitchers are very realistic, as per the Mets. It was just Dickey I needed to change and I didn't want to change sliders around just for his starts, so I changed his ratings around. Plus I didn't think the ratings of the pitches were accurate for him anyway.Comment

6 BB per game... touché... I may have considered it as well or just fired him haha.Your opinion is definitely valid, I just feel differently. They sure didn't mind making Melky Cabrera the best player in baseball though with their last update.MLB The Show 21 Stadium Creator

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
Players suddenly perform above all expectations, and some perform well below their expectations, all regarding attributes. No matter what you do, no matter what they do, there will not be the same in a video game. Some players started slow this year, some started great, so when are you going to forget the ratings game and start a season or franchise?
I don't get into worrying about how players are doing in real baseball. I just "take care" of the players on my team

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
Man, I know I've been tempted to jack up Melky's contact ratings in my franchise, but all those philosophical questions raised above always make me waver on doing it or not. I draw from past experiences on this... I have always been tempted to raise Jonathan Sanchez's stamina the past few years because almost every time that I've used him, he gets gassed by the sixth inning. I always tried to raise his stats organically (for lack of a better term) by using training assignments and buying an aerobic room, with mild results. But now that he's in Kansas City, it's not a problem anymore.
I suppose I could always peek at the recent SCEA rosters and give my old players the new ratings if I choose. That's not cheating too much, right?

Re: Cheating by Bumping up Attributes
this is exactly what i did. i used the most current SCEA ratings but i mainly changed pagan, melky, panda, buster, arias, blanco, and sanchez, since these guys have either been doing a lot better since their original ratings or guys like arias who really didn't have accurate ratings in the original rosters.Comment
