Also, how old are your pitchers? A pitcher that's 18 won't be able to pitch like one who is 25.
Not changing sig until Cards win next WS. Started 2012

so then you have that confidence meter to deal with, and as many, many threads have pointed out that meter has a HUGE effect on pitcher control

Right. So you need to be careful before making a sweeping conclusion from only a few games.

            It does. Why shouldn't it?

I'm relatively new to the Show. 2k had a confidence slider, if I'm not mistaken, for the pitchers, or at least something similar. I had no idea it was even in this game!!! I'm glad I asked, because of all the pitchers i've created, they've all been 20,21 years old. that makes the picture A LOT more clear to me now. I've had no issues at all with creating other position players, but Pitchers control has been a big bugaboo for me. this makes a lot more sense. Now I can't wait to get home and do some tweaking!!

In the game, age has nothing to do with confidence. It's effectively a system to simulate good/bad days any normal human being has. Otherwise all pitchers consistently pitch to their true ability, which would be boring.

I believe the confidence bar will consistently show is 'manage only' games.

If you want to check your pitcher's confidence in cpu vs cpu games you can take control of your team momentarily and do a visit to the mound(one per inning).

The confidence bar will be the blue bar below the green energy level bar. You can then switch the controller back to the middle after that to get the cpu vs. cpu going again.

If the blue bar is very low combined with your pitcher being on a season cold streak, you can turn Roy Halladay into John Lackey very quickly.

especially in fran mode that bar is crazy important. if you can get to a pitcher early he throws beach balls all over the place!

I just recently knocked Verlander out in the 2nd of a playoff game after getting 6 runs ( incl. a grandslam )his conf. meter was almost 0

all very good information guys, thanks. i just ran a game where Verlander gave up a 2nd inning home run, then proceeded to shut my team down for the rest of the game, scattering 3 hits, O walks, and 7 strikeouts. I lost 2-1. my pitcher happened to be Bruce Chen, who has relatively good control, and he gave up only 6 hits in 8 innings pitched. all in all, this game KILLS 2K sports, at least the last iteration of 2K that I bought (2011). thanks again for the help, I will refrain from panic until I get a larger sample of games to judge.
