Re: MLB 13 The Show Wishlist

Also, speaking of young players, I want to be able to send newly signed draft picks straight in to the minor league system.

Look at Chris Sale in 2010. He was drafted, signed a couple days later, went to low-A a week later, promoted to High-A, then called up to the majors all in the same year he was drafted. I want that option to move up my high-caliber draft picks fast like Chris Sale was.

To bring something slightly different to the table, and hopefully one that is not too difficult to do, is the actual baseball graphic. During the load screen there is a 3D baseball that spins in the corner. That looks incredible compared to the ball in the game, specifically when hitting or pitching, but also when fielding too. To me the ball looks more 2D than 3D. I know this is such a minor thing, but I honestly think it would help tie the graphics together. Just some shading or something to give it more of a 3D effect (it could be a lot more than something like shading, I'm just using it as an example to help paint the picture of what I am thinking).

Add a wide shot of the home team taking the field at the very start of each game. Also, for who ever handles graphical details: Please add weight to the ball every time the catcher catches it. When it hits the catchers glove make the glove move back so that it looks like the ball has weight. This may be asking for a bit much but it's all I can think of.

It would also be cool if the helmet comes off a diving player every now and then. For example have the helmet come off a base stealer's head as he slides hard into the bag. And speaking of base stealers, a long time ago some one mentioned that the running animation for base stealers is/was way better in MLB 2k. It had to do with how the runners looked as they ran from base to base while attempting to steal. In The Show they look like they are just running like normal, but in MLB 2k they have a bent down and aggressive animation more similar to real life. So maybe improve that as well.

Recently started playing this game again and a couple ideas came to me while playing and simming through Franchise:

-Introduce twitter to Franchise mode similar to NBA 2k and Madden. Different personalities could be involved. Such as Buster Olney for trade rumors, Keith Law talking about prospects, generic fans of the team, generic beat writers, etc. It's always interesting to read the tweets in between games and is a much better feature than controlling vendors, promotions, stadiums etc. In fact I would prefer those to be out of the game since I set those to auto anyways.

-Editable contracts or some easier type of system for it. This would allow roster creator's to make accurate free agency classes and contracts that mirror the MLB's. Not sure if the MLBPA would allow this or not, but there has to be some easier process then dropping and adding the player until the contract is close enough.

-Remove the Closing Pitcher position. This is relied upon too much by the CPU. They'll put a bad closer over an elite RP just because of the position label. All relievers should be listed as the same position with the CPU choosing their closer by the players overall and the ability to handle pressure.

-Some type of "Commissioner Mode" option should be added in the franchise setup menu. This would give the user the capability of vetoing any trade between CPU and CPU. This would be a way to avoid ridiculous trades like Trout or Harper being moved in the 1st season.

I know we have variable strike zones in this game and that is great but I'd like to see Umpires with consistent strike zones. If he's calling a borderline pitch on the outer half I'd like to see it be consistently called and not feel so random as it seems to be in 12 at times. If you ask most players (in the real or virtual world) they are fine with an ump calling a strike that's a bit off the plate or not calling the low strike as long as he does it consistently.

I'd actually like to see the pitcher roles removed completely. Just make them all "P" and you can put them in whichever roles you'd like. You might see some good results and you might not. But then you're free to take a guy and move him out of the rotation or up and down the bullpen.

Plus guys change pitching roles all the time in the MLB; Brad Meyers is talking about wanting to be a starter somewhere after being in the 'pen for a while. Maybe he'd succeed. Maybe not. But at least you (and the CPU) can decide where you think a guy should be, not a "position."

I think what he means is.....you can do this yourself and that's fine.
But if EVERY pitcher is just a P in the game ....what would be the deciding factor for the rotation....stamina I would suppose...so that's basically what's there now.

If you want to ...you can simply edit all CP to just RP and the CPU does just fine in deciding who to use.
You can do the same for borderline SP(who are listed as RP) and the CPU will use the best five there as well and usually throw the sixth best as the LRP(which I wish was used better by the CPU managers)

I know I can edit all that. But why? Effectiveness is not determined only by stamina, either. A lot of times it has to do with repertoire. Sometimes some SP's have three pitches; or relievers have five. Why should they be pigeonholed to a specific role? They're pitchers and pitchers change roles all the time. Look at the Yankees. Or the Braves (Smoltz in particular). Or pretty much any other club. I know the White Sox have moved their guys around quite a bit.

It just seems silly to have guys locked into one side or the other (I know I can edit it, but that isn't the point).

Probably too late for 13, but I'd like to see multiple uniform appearances for players who tend to mix it up. One example is Miguel Cabrera, sometimes he has the long pants and other days he has the high sock look.

Would be nice to have 'alternate' settings for players and have it change from day to day. Would be really cool to have players grow beards and then be clean shaving, but that's a very minor and probably a ways off (maybe PS4) idea.

I hate how in franchise closers only pitch in save situations, and never anytime else. In real life, sometimes closers will pitch with the game tied or in other close situations.

Thank you Knight for elaborating for me! Sorry ptbnl for not replying I had homework and baseball that kept me busy for a little bit.

Honestly, the way Knight put it would have been really the same thing I'd say to reply. In my dynasties, I always change borderline SP to RP (and vice versa) based on their stamina ratings, or to fill a position in need. A good example would be how I'd use Phil Hughes as a SU man for me, I hate him as a starter, but he's an all star reliever for me!
