Game Time (Length)???
So I am going to get MLB 13. I havent played since MLB 10 and played this series religiously for the decade + a couple years before that. My question is how long does it take you guys to play an average 4-2, 5-3 ballgame? You can lock or delete this if you want when I get some answers but Im all about realism and real stats and I set my sliders accordingly but both NCAA13 and NBA 2k13 takes me about 50-55 minutes to complete an avg game. Thats way to long and if Im going to play a season of 162 I most likely wont complete it if game times are that long. I remember they added a quick play option a few years ago and it was only taking me around 25 minutes to play a game. Is quick play still on there? I love the cut scenes and all, but honestly I get bored with them after the first few series' cuz Im just trying to get through my season. The downside to that is I was hurrying up my pitches and I swear Im not as accurate when I do this. I still want to play a full 9 innings and all so Im wondering how long it takes you guys and if yall have any suggestions or anything, Thanks!Gal 2:20Tags: None -

I think with fast play enabled(no cut scenes..walkups and such) and using the X button to move things along elsewhere, you could get a game in in 30-40 minutes.
I'm guessing as I don't play this way.
I will say, I'm lobbying(and so is Ramone) for a generated pitch count for the game...
I think they will eventually(SCEA) get that the reasoning behind it is that guys WANT to get MUCH deeper into franchise mode, but don't really want to sim games....and gen counts is a great way to do it if it's done correctly(by going off ratings AND randomizing rather than just random)
It's not that we just want to get games faster(completed)....we want to actually play FRANCHISE more(and the O.S. poll on the main screen shows that 50% of people want deeper/better franchise modes in their sports games....15% more than the second place choice of truer physics than that of what we have today.
I'd say that's a pretty clear margin.

That poll is biased against your point too, since it includes other sports games. People, including me, vote for "amazing physics" because the current physics in OTHER games is frankly quite terrible, and the game physics in those certain other games desperately need some serious attention.I think with fast play enabled(no cut scenes..walkups and such) and using the X button to move things along elsewhere, you could get a game in in 30-40 minutes.

But if the poll was only about The Show... it's a no brainer... The physics are already solid enough to get me by, so I go with the only important thing the game is lacking: a deeper franchise mode.
Anyway as for the actual topic... my games average about 90 minutes, and keep in mind I do NOT make a serious effort to rush the game. Fast Play is NOT on. I skip most cutscenes, but not all, and I pause the game like a good 20 times a game, mainly so I can Facebook and other pointless things.
There's been times where I had somewhere to go and needed to get a game done as quickly as possible. In those cases I've gotten games done in under an hour; even then, fast play is still NOT on. I don't like Fast Play, for the record, mainly because it eliminates the delay between pitches. Not enough time for me to comfortably control baserunners and think about what the next pitch might be.Comment

Re: Game Time (Length)???
Both two great points from you guys. My plan is to buy this game every other year and get through 3-5 years of franchise in that time. You guys cant honestly play a full 162 though, right? I mean that would take forever I would think. Unless your content on just playing one year on franchise mode. I am married with 3 kids. I go to college full time, church on Sundays, play BBall a couple times a week, etc. I would think you guys would have to be chained to your homes to get through a full season. I mean I get video game time usually when I want it but you guys almost have to have nothing going on to get through a whole 9-inning, 162 game season. And please dont think Im ripping you guys, Im just wondering if there is something Im missing or maybe some people play just 5 innings or whatever.Gal 2:20Comment

I don't like to rush through baseball games and this one takes over an hour unless you rush. But a game a day you should be able to play through a season in 6 months.Comment

If I remember correctly, Knight, like myself, does not really play any video games not named The Show. Not having competition from other games makes it a tad easier to get some games in.Both two great points from you guys. And for what it's worth, I play basketball a few times a week, go to college full time, and work 4 days a week. No church, kids, or wife, though.... Plus honestly I don't really do my homework half the time
But either way, my schedule gets quite packed at times, but there's no rush. I play every single game, and I enjoy doing that.
I started my franchise like in May of this year, and I have literally one game left in my season right now. Worth noting that summer vacation helps a LOT. For a while I was ahead of real-life baseball's schedule, simply because the summer months gave me much more The Show time.Comment

The way I play? 45-60 minutes for a game. I don't rush. Baseball is a cerebral game at it's soul.

Re: Game Time (Length)???
im just a freshman in high school and im on the varsity team but its not baseball season right now so i usually get home at 4 every day do homework (sometimes ;p) and can play a game or two each day and still manage a social life XD each one usually take me about 40-50 minutes since i play on fast play. i just started a franchise on tuesday or wednesday i cant remember and i play one game per series and sim the other 2 which is 54 a year and i have played 6 so far and am almost through the first month of my season (april 26th). exams this week so i have half days tuesday-thursday then im off for 3 weeks so i am hoping to get to the all star break by the time winter break is over XDLast edited by SportsGamingBlake; 12-16-2012, 10:38 PM.Comment

Re: Game Time (Length)???
Bobhead you nailed it! I play on the slowest pitch delay speed and I normally average 50 minutes or so per game. Last year when the pitch delay option was broken and stuck on normal I barely played the game for the first month. The game was so fast between pitches and plays that I couldn't think, and that's the part about baseball that is so great. Understanding tendencies and thinking like a hitter or pitcher. The Show is so great because the speed of the game mimics real life so well when it's played on the slowest pitch delay setting. I will never play The Show any other way. Bobhead I'm exactly the same way in college as well. I work basically every day, do a little school work if need be, play some puck, have some fun, and watch tv/game. Life's not too bad I'd say. Sadly I'm graduating Saturday so things may change quickly if I find a job.Last edited by bwiggy33; 12-17-2012, 01:15 AM.NHL-Minnesota Wild

Re: Game Time (Length)???
Good Info. I swear fast play only took around 25-30 minutes a few years ago but maybe they have changed some things. Im the kind of person that thinks its almost against my religion to sim anything. I feel like I have wronged the game if I sim a game. If I were to sim I would feel like whatever my record was is not really my true record cuz say the computer played like half the games or whatever. I just always get pumped to play a franchise and then I get bored about a third of the way into my season cuz games take to long -or- the game is heavily flawed until they get an update or two. I hope they get the game right when it comes out cuz I want to get this thing started right away!!!Gal 2:20Comment

Re: Game Time (Length)???
I easily average probably 1.5-2.5 hrs per game. how do i know this i play with my computer on and near since i do franchise updates on TheShownation.com and constantly am looking at the time on my computer for some odd reason.
doesn't bother me ive been pushing for real (fake) commercials inbetween innings to make it even more realistic. if your going to play a baseball game why not have it last as long as a real game could?"Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: Game Time (Length)???
Couldnt agree more, but it takes me around 1 '/2 hours to 2 hours per game on average, i love to soak in the atmosphere.
As you say, enjoy every pitch

Re: Game Time (Length)???
I've played almost exclusively on the Vita this year and would say I'm around 35-45 minutes per game. I don't think I could get a game in under 30 minutes - nor do I really have a desire to. I'm sure I've played enough games to be through a season but they're all dispersed throughout 4 different seasons. I'll be playing this edition for a while.Comment
