Honestly I have no idea maybe that's something people will have to sit back and see. In my opinion if it isn't broke don't fix it.Comment

Also, everything that ShowTyme15 has said about the Style Guide is correct. It's a dumb issue, but true.Fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple LeafsComment

I hope not...while they may get some extra benefits from it it would be expensive on their resources. In a perfect world anybody (within reason) could get permission from MLB to make a game and all have equal access to all the rights, names, etc."Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Re: Community Day 2013 - Uniforms & Accessories - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
Just a quick note.
The teams are not bound by the style guide....SCEA is.
One of the artists was unsure about the St. Louis combo for the helmet/cap in regards to the alternate road unis. He had pics showing both combos and info to the same...and asked if anyone knew for sure what it would be for the helmet(I don't think the helmets are in the guide...just the caps).
I PM'ed our resident St. Louis nutjob(affectionate term) and he sent me the info for every uni combo.
I brought the info to the artist and one of the caps in the guide was different. I could see he had the one that the O.S. member told me would be used....as an option to put into the game(meaning it's there...all drawn up), but when he referred to the guide right in front of me...it showed a different cap. There was nothing he could do but use the one in the guide.
They are that strict with it.
That's the way it is.

Didn't the license run out for 2k this year though (As in 2k12 was their last exclusive license game)? Aren't they just making a game because they are allowed to? Or are they still under contract for this last year?Comment

They had the contract renewed for just this year then they'll re-evaluate it for next year.Comment

"Our legacy Major League Baseball agreement will sunset in fiscal 2013," a Take-Two spokesman said, meaning in the coming 12 calendar months. "MLB 2K12 is our last offering under that agreement. At this time, we have no further comment."Last edited by MrOldboy; 01-29-2013, 05:21 PM.Comment

Re: Community Day 2013 - Uniforms & Accessories - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
The thing is; the MLB Style Guide serves a useful purpose as it dictates how teams are shown in all media. It's a way that they can control their image and give confidence to the consumer that what they are buying is the real deal.
I remember this was a huge deal when the Rangers had those two-toned helmets for years. They never wore them once in real life, but they were in the Style Guide forever and it took years for them to be taken out.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Yea, how useful is it when its not correct...i think its more useful when it comes to the primary logos and word marks. The style guide contains more then just the uniforms, it includes the official fonts and the primary logos and various other official team info for media use.Comment

Re: Community Day 2013 - Uniforms & Accessories - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
The style guide was awful back in the 90's. I remember playing All Star Baseball or Ken Griffey's N64 game and the road uniform for the Royals was inaccurate. They had the Royal Blue jerseys with gray caps with blue bills. The Royals never wore that combo and the gray cap was used for a few home games in 98 and was quickly retired.
Another example in recent years was the Twins Red "TC" cap with their home navy alternates. They've never worn that combo either and it was bothersome back on MLB 2k5 and in the Show '08 & '09.
Now this has been discussed before but SCEA should and hopefully correct the 1974 Braves throwback uniform with the correct sock colors and batting helmet.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderComment

What is the point of the style guide if its so inaccurate?Comment

I perfectly understand the legal issue SCEA have and Im sure the dev team is as frustrated as we are.
But the part I don't understand : any major leagues teams these days are investing a lot in marketing and how their team image (logos, colors, uniforms) is represented in all medias everywhere. If the guide would be so important for the teams, why they're not updating it? Why by example Toronto Jays would let the medias and the merchandising keep referring to their wrong Blue color ? If it would be so important, the first thing marketing dept would be doing is keep it up to date. So my feeling is it's not used that much anymore.
For some other reasons SCEA is trapped with that guide.Comment
