Stupid Question

Hey guys,

This is most likely a dumb question but here it goes,

Does the 10GB (instead of the 5gb option) clear up the graphics a little? It might just be my TV or myself in general but it seems like my graphics are a little distorted. My batter is pretty clear but the pitcher looks pretty bad. It might also be because I'm not running HDMI but I just thought I'd run this question by you guys.

That install only makes it faster for the games to load. Doesn't really help with graphics or anything.

You really need to get an HDMI cable. How anyone can still play 360 or ps3 with component is beyond me.

Your missing a whole lot of HD goodness.

Then adjust the settings of your TV. The TV/PS3 relationship is not plug and play like the PC is. Every TV is different and you need to find that right spot that makes everything work.

There have been numerous threads on this. Im sure a simple forum search will reveal them

Not every TV has options to really help with that... mine doesn't. I just have to suck it up until I hit the lottery and can buy a new TV.

Are you using component cables or just the composite ones that came with the PS3? I'd assume composite. Just order a cheap HDMI off amazon, they all do the job the same. The build quality might be better on some of the more expensive ones, but if you don't unplug and re plug all the time it doesn't matter.

One thing people get surprised about when going from 480 to 720 or 1080 is that the aliasing is much more noticeable. It doesn't bother a ton of people, but there is a quite a bit of aliasing on the player models in The Show. The game looks a lot better at 720, but you do notice more at that resolution.

Not every TV has options to really help with that... mine doesn't. I just have to suck it up until I hit the lottery and can buy a new TV.

Regardless of what TV you have or what setting sit has or does not have, you should be able to find a balance between your TV & PS3 either in the TV settings or in the PS3 settings.

Not every TV is gonna be "perfect" but there should be some sort of reasonable balance.

Also , the crappier your TV is, the crappier your connection will be.

As for HDMI cables, they are not all created equal. Some do not have the ability to transfer the data as fast as others.
I would not suggest buying Monster Cable. They are over priced and unnecessary, but buying cheap is also not advisable. And neither is buying from overseas. Go to WalMart, go to the PS3 aisle and look for an HDMI cable priced around $20. It will be good enough for what you need. If youre still confused, ask the guys at BestBuy. They can show you the HDMI, try to sell you the most expensive bu the final decision is yours.

My TV literally has no relevant options at all.... Your classic display and audio settings, and some pointless things for viewing slideshows, playing iPods, and other completely useless things. Nothing about processing, lag, etc...

I mean... I've long since adjusted. But there's no question that when I played The Show 2012 on my big bulky old school TV, I had pitch speed on at least 6, and played quite comfortably. When I switched to a flat screen (Panasonic TC L32x2) I had to bump it all the way down to 2, where I play now.

My only regret is that I wish I knew input lag existed and what it was, at the time I bought the TV. I was just happy to be getting my first flat screen though, and frankly didn't think research was necessary. I certainly didn't compare one giant ugly TV to another back in the early 2000's...

I did the same thing. I went from a Sony HD Tube TV to a Samsung Flatscreen.

I never knew the different intricacies of the TVs.
NOW I DO! and will use that knowledge next time.
My TV also has no "game settings" but I just adjusted the PS3 to my liking and that made it easier to play.
The pitch speed and hitting window has been adjusted for MLB13 so get ready for another adjustment.

Really I have a Panasonic tc-l32s1 and it has very little input lag. Althought its a different model so I have no idea about yours to be honest. I did a lot of research before buying the new tv and people over on AVSforums did some lag input tests and found them to be very good so I bought that TV. A lot of people on there wanted it to be used as a PC monitor and wanted to have very low lag for games. From what I read and asked in the thread it seemed like it had low lag.

As a tip go lurk over on the AVS forums for TV advice before buying. There are a ton of threads on there on all sorts of TV models. Its the first place I go to for display advice.
